Nikki Cross: Alexa Bliss And I Want To Have The Best Matches And Tell Great Stories

Nikki Cross on how she felt after winning the Women's Tag Team Titles.

On Aug. 5, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss took their friendship to the next level, winning the Women's Tag Team Championships in a fatal four-way tag match on WWE Raw. Cross and Bliss had come together prior to Money in the Bank in May when Cross replaced Bliss in the Women's Money in the Bank match. Since then, they have been nearly inseparable despite being labeled as "the odd couple."

Speaking to Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory, Cross discussed her partnership with Alexa and being told they were winning the Women's Tag Team Titles.

"It was Fit Finlay that told me. When he told us that was the plan, I was like, 'Okay.' Things might change, so you just keep yourself level," recalled Nikki. "I always believe that in life, keep yourself level and chill. For me, it was exciting because it showed me that they wanted to continue this story with me and Alexa. That was something that we really wanted, we wanted to continue it because there's so much there and we have good chemistry and get along really well. There's so much more we can show here. [WWE] putting that faith and trust in us, that was huge.

Nikki continued, "So when [we win the titles], it doesn't sink in. John Cone was our referee, and he gave the title to Alexa, and Alexa handed it to me. I just looked at it like, 'what the...' cause I dreamed of being a WWE champion. I was like, 'oh my God, I did it.' It was weird because one half of you feels very 'I did that. I did what I set out to do' Then you're like, 'it's the start. It's not the end.' I want to wrestle for as long as I possibly can, like ten more years. Robbie [Brookside] would always say, 'The hard work starts when you get to the Performance Center.' Then it was, 'The hard word starts when you're on NXT television.' It was never the end. It was always a new chapter. It's the same things with the championships. Now we start. We both want to have the best tag matches we can and tell great stories."

This past Monday on Raw, Bliss & Cross teamed to take on Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch & SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley in a Women's Championship Showcase. The match ended in a disqualification when Sasha Banks interfered.
