NJPW will change up the format for G1 Climax 34.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced a change in format for the annual NJPW G1 Climax tournament. The tournament will feature two blocks (A Block and B Block) with 20 men in each block.
18 competitors will be announced for each block and the final two competitors will be determined via a tournament on July 5.
The top three finishers in each block will advance. Second and third place finishers will face off on August 15, with the top point scorer receiving a bye to August 17. The semifinals will determine an overall winner for each block, to compete in the final on August 18.
The tournament begins on July 20.
The winner of the tournament will earn the right to challenge for the IWGP Wold Heavyweight Title at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom.
