The NXT Championship made its debut in June 2012 when Seth Rollins became the first champion after the promotion was rebranded from Florida Championship Wrestling to NXT. Six months later, the NXT Tag Team Championships were revealed with Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey, known as the British Ambition, becoming the first holders after beating The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Erik Rowan) in the finals of the inaugural tournament.
The NXT Women's Championship was announced in April 2013, but it wouldn't be awarded until June of that year when Paige became the first champion.
