Orange Cassidy Thinks He Will Change People's Perceptions Of Him, But They'll Never Admit It

Orange Cassidy was already one of the most popular stars when he joined AEW as the company first launched.

Over the years, Cassidy has grown from being a perceived "meme wrestler" to a workhorse for the company.

Speaking to Busted Open Radio, Cassidy was asked about changing fan perception as he's grown as a performer.

"I think I will change people's perception but they will never admit it. How many people on Twitter will be like, 'You know what? I was wrong.' Maybe a couple of people, but we're talking less than 10%. That's okay. I don't care. If you don't like me and you don't like what I'm doing, and you don't appreciate what I'm doing, that's fine. I'm not going to stop doing what I want to do. I'm not going to stop wrestling the way I wrestle because that's what I do," he said.

When host Mark Henry said that people are unfamiliar with Cassidy, his style, and how it hasn't been done before, Cassidy commented, "That's always going to be a problem, right? Because people are familiar with being comfortable. Usually, people like tradition and routine. I'm not saying everybody. When something gets broken or something is new. It's like, 'That's not what I like. That's not what I've watched before.' It can take some time to get different styles. It's funny you keep saying people have adapted to me and my style. I don't like to think anybody has to adapt to my wrestling style."

Henry and fellow co-host David LeGreca said that everyone has adapted to Cassidy in general because he is so different, with Henry going as far as comparing him to Deion Sanders.

"I'm going to make sure everybody knows, 'Mark Henry says I'm Deion Sanders,'" said Cassidy.

Cassidy closed by saying AEW is an alternative and he wants to keep doing things that are different and an alternative to what you may find elsewhere.

Cassidy is set to team with HOOK & Kris Statlander at AEW Rampage Grand Slam to take on 2point0 (Matt Menard & Angelo Parker) & Anna Jay.

Fightful will have coverage of the event beginning at 10 p.m. ET on Friday.
