Paul Wight reveals he has two titanium hips now and while he isn't looking for championship gold specifically, he would be open to a tag team title run in AEW under the right circumstances.
Since joining All Elite Wrestling in 2021, Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show in WWE, has only Wrestled a handful of times, primarily focusing on his role on commentary on AEW Dark: Elevation. Now, speaking on Submission Radio, Paul reveals that he had another hip transplant in December 2021 and has been focusing on rehab and physical therapy but plans on still competing on occasion when the time is right.
“Well, to be honest, what we've been doing is I had another hip transplant in December. So now I have two fake hips now, two titanium hips. So I'm like Wolverine. The process for me has been rehab, physical therapy, to get stronger,” Paul said. "My thing coming [to AEW], honestly, to be sincere is I came over here to work on my commentary skills because that's where my future lies in wrestling, that's where I want to contribute the business. I came over to compete periodically in small dosages and I don't see myself running for championships. That's not my gig. Maybe if it works out and there's a younger talent that I can help bring along like a Tag Team Championship, maybe. I've done my five nights a week for four decades, I put in my time.
"Now, for me, it's about not taking anything away from the amazing AEW talent here that deserves that TV time that deserves that opportunity to make those connections with the audience that deserves that ability to go out and earn those pay-per-view paydays,” Wight added. "This is their time. For me, I'll pick and choose here and there, squeeze in, and we got some stuff coming down the line that's really cool. But this has been an incredible [Double or Nothing] card they put together an incredible sold-out venue. You know, these talents are excited [to compete], and I'm excited to watch them. I'm never going to be a guy that's going to come in and bully my way and ‘I need my own dressing room. I need my I need to be fighting for the title.’ That's not my MO. I want the business to do well. I want the talent around me to do well. I'll be okay.”
Recently, Paul Wight has stated that Captain Insano, his character from the movie “Waterboy,” may end up “running wild” in AEW soon. Learn more here.
