Percy Watson Leaving WWE For Outside Projects

It looks like Percy Watson is finished with WWE again.

Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens took to Twitter on Saturday and mentioned that WWE announcer Percy Watson had left WWE, and stated that Watson wanted to get out of wrestling and perhaps do some acting. Watson was replaced by WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix at the recent set of NXT tapings.

Fightful was able to follow up on the report and confirmed that Watson has told many that he isn't planning on working for WWE any longer, though we weren't able to confirm a release from the company. The departure had been in the works for a while, and Watson had hoped to pursue outside projects but was unable to due to his WWE schedule.

The 37-year old Watson hasn't wrestled in years, but was under contract to WWE from 2009 to 2013, and performed for their NXT brand. He would be released, only to return in the fall of 2016 as a member of the NXT announce team. Watson also did commentary for Main Event, Worlds Collide and 205 Live along the way.

Fightful will work to find out more news on the story, and have reached out to Percy on the matter.
