According to DDT English Update, the merger is being done "to fortify the business/economic foundation of the company, sounds like it's driven by the economic situation surrounding COVID."

Sanshiro Takagi will serve as President with Naomichi Marufuji and Akito serving as Executive Vic Presidents. Takagi said that the in-ring of each promotion will be totally unaffected by this transaction and the goal is for the promotion to run in the Tokyo Dome and the merger was triggered by, "The economic situation driven by COVID. A lot about the future is still unclear and the entertainment industry is severely hurt, but the show must go on, and we wanted to streamline costs where we could."

He also said the promotions barely had any shows in April and talks of a merger began at the end of April.

Marufuji said, "I'm sure some fans are concerned, but nothing will change, if anything it will work positively for us aiming for the top of the industry."

Both companies have run empty arena and limited attendance shows during the pandemic.

CyberAgent owns both DDT and NOAH, having purchased NOAH in January.
