On the May 24, 2010 episode of WWE Raw, R-Truth won the WWE United States Championship for the first time when he defeated The Miz.
R-Truth and Miz would be linked throughout their respective careers as foes and tag team partners.
Speaking during a Raw Retrospective video, Truth praised The Miz.
"I always thought the Miz was, creatively, underestimated. Not talked about as much as he should be for being a ring general. Just to be affiliated with anything with The Miz, I was like, ‘That’s pretty cool.’ Just knowing his story, coming from reality life to wrestling and following his dream, that blueprint he made for himself, sticking with it and being dedicated. I have admiration for him. I always have. He’s one of the best and smartest people to have a connection with in the back," said Truth.
Truth would hold the title for 21 days before losing it back to The Miz in a four-way match on the June 14, 2010 episode of WWE Raw.
WWE Raw officially moves to Netflix on January 6, 2024.
