R-Truth is just out to entertain.
No one has gotten more mileage out of the WWE 24/7 Title than R-Truth. Since the debut of the title on the May 20 episode of Raw, Truth has won the belt 12 times. His victories and defenses have led to big numbers on WWE's YouTube channel with his segments regularly topping one million views.
Speaking to City Pages, Truth discussed how he's still going strong and entertaining the masses after two decades in the sport.
“I’m reinventing myself,” Truth said. “I have so many millennials now that just know me as, ‘Oh, you were that dude back in the Attitude Era.’ I feel like this has reminded people that I’m not new to this, I’m true to this. I just liked entertaining people, man. I like the feeling it gives me. I was performing when I was in middle school, being the class clown. I like laughter. I like humor. I like positive, good things, and entertainment is just positive. “The greatest all-around entertainer in the world. I can still go in the ring. I can go on the mic. And I can entertain. I am the best. Just to sum it up, period.”
Truth's most prominent fan might be Vince McMahon. Truth earned the trust of his boss during Tribute To The Troops tours in Afghanistan and Kuwait. And McMahon isn't afraid to tell Truth when he's not entertaining enough.
“He’ll call me out on it,” Truth said. “If I do something that he thinks don’t have R-Truth in it, he’ll call me out and ask me what’s going on. He knows how entertaining I can be and I am.”
Though Truth is the most decorated 24/7 Champion in the titles short history, the belt is currently held by Elias, who pinned Truth last Monday on WWE Raw following a guitar shot backstage.
