Rayo de Jalisco Sr. Passes Way At The Age Of 85

One of the best luchadores has passed away.

Some unfortunate news made headlines today as it was announced that legendary luchadore Rayo de Jalisco Sr. passed away after 85-years on this earth. Rayo de Jalisco Sr., real name Máximino Linares Moreno was looked upon as one of Mexico's greatest luchadores and he has also been featured in a number of luchadore films as well.

Jalisco Sr. began his career as an in-ring performer in the 1950's and stepped away from the ring towards the end of the 80's. Throughout his time as a wrestler he held the NWA World Middleweight Championship three times and was a Mexican National Tag Team Champion. In 2014 Jalisco Sr. was inducted into the AAA Hall Of Fame and is considered to be a "hero" in the state in which he named his ring name after, Jalisco. Jalisco Sr. as mentioned was featured in a number of luchadore films and his success is carried on by his son Rayo de Jalisco Jr. who is also a professional wrestler and has held a number of championships in CMLL and is the current WWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Jalisco Sr. passed away at the age of 85-years old on July 19th and on behalf of Fightful we'd like to send our condolences to the family and friends of Rayo de Jalisco Sr.
