On November 2, Tony Khan announced that Jon Moxley had checked himself into an inpatient alcohol treatment program.
Moxley would return to AEW television on January 19, addressing his absence and not running from his demons, instead choosing to beat the shit out of them. Before the promo began, a spectator yelled something at Moxley, prompting him to reply, "Go fuck yourself. Get that guy out of here. Piece of shit."
Speaking to Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston, Renee Paquette asked if the person was kicked out of the arena and her reaction to the incident.
"Very disrespectful. I don't know what happened and I'm pretty sure Jon doesn't know what happened because he didn't give it a second thought after that moment other than, he kind of served him his shit during it, I think that was the most Jon thought about it afterward. I don't know if the guy got kicked out or not. I'm glad Jon reacted and said something to him. In a normal situation, you can't really hear individuals when you're in the ring, but they were in a smaller arena so Jon could hear everybody and it was real quiet when he was talking because everyone was giving him the respect and welcoming him back and letting him have the floor. When he could actually hear that person, it was a rare instance of actually being able to hear someone, the guy saying something stupid, and Jon immediately asking him to be removed. I don't know if he got kicked out or not though," she said.
Renee continued by saying, "I love that he had not been on TV for three months or so and within the first couple of minutes of being on TBS, just dropping an F bomb and an S bomb. I'm so glad he said that. If it's a knee jerk reaction and you swear, I'm loosey-goosey when it comes to cursing so I'm never offended by it."
Moxley has been a staple on AEW television since his return, entering into a feud with Bryan Danielson heading into AEW Revolution before the two were aligned by William Regal to form the Blackpool Combat Club.
Paquette remains involved in wrestling through The Sessions, where she frequently interviews wrestlers from all promotions.
