"The Machine" is dealing with a legitimate injury.
Brian Cage climbed to the top of the IMPACT Wrestling mountain last night at IMPACT's 'Rebellion' pay-per-view where he defeated Johnny Impact to become World Champion. After the event concluded, IMPACT pushed out a notification on Twitter that Cage had been rushed to the emergency room following his title match and Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline followed up on that and is reporting that Cage suffered a back injury during the match.
Although it has yet to be officially confirmed, the report notes that the injury stems from the "Spanish Fly" that Cage took off the entrance ramp onto the floor. Cage was able to finish the match along with taking a powerbomb from the debuting Michael Elgin. After all was said and done, Brian Cage was not able to walk under his own power and was rushed to a local medical facility.

Brian Cage's fiancee Melissa Santos provided an update on Cage and noted that she was in the hospital with him and confirmed his back injury.
At the ER with @MrGMSI_BCage and we are waiting to be seen, his back was injured. Thank you for the support during this worrisome time. Will keep everyone updated.

As mentioned, Michael Elgin made his IMPACT Wrestling debut by taking out the World Champion. New Japan Pro Wrestling announced at the beginning of this month that Elgin was departing from their company and three weeks later, Elgin has appeared for IMPACT Wrestling and has his eyes locked on Brian Cage's World Title.
