Charlotte Flair is reportedly taking a break.
Flair missed several months of 2022 following her loss at WWE WrestleMania Backlash in May. She returned on the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown and defeated SmackDown Women's Championship Ronda Rousey in an impromptu match to win the title. At WWE WrestleMania 39 Night Two, Rhea Ripley beat Flair to win the gold.
PWInsider reports that Flair told WWE she would be taking time off following WrestleMania 39. The report notes that Ripley's title win had been decided before the company was informed of Flair's plans over the weekend. Flair reportedly told people backstage that she and her husband, Andrade El Idolo, were going to travel. It's unclear how long Flair's break will be, but the report noted that she is not expected to appear on the April 7 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Speaking with ESPN ahead of WrestleMania, Flair expressed her interest in doing a bodybuilding competition and noted that she was thinking about doing it in the summer of 2023. But she also pointed out that it would be hard to do the work required for the competition while she was on the road with WWE.
"I would love, love, love to do a [bodybuilding] competition. I'm thinking about doing it this summer. I know what goes into it from a diet standpoint and how lean you get. How do I make that work on the road?" Flair said.
