Dean Ambrose lands a new role post-WWE.
Deadline is reporting that Dean Ambrose has been cast in the MMA-themed film 'Cagefighter.' The film is currently in pre-production and will also star MMA legends Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre along with current UFC star Alexander Gustafsson. Josh Herdman (Harry Potter), Michael Jai White (Universal Soldier), Gina Gershon (Face/Off), Michelle Ryan (Bionic Woman), and Jason Maza (Brotherhood) are also set to star in the film.
According to Deadline, "the film tells the story of a lauded MMA champion who unexpectedly loses a heavily promoted match to a professional wrestling star making his crossover debut in the MMA fighting world. Humiliated by the defeat, he must fight his way back to the top and earn his place for a rematch."
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Christian serves as an executive producer on the film.
Ambrose left WWE at the end of April and got the online world buzzing on May 1 with a short video announcing the return of Jon Moxley. Despite the teaser, Ambrose has yet to officially announce his next pro wrestling appearance.
