Edge made a surprising return to the ring at WWE Royal Rumble and he'll be getting paid nicely over the next three years during his comeback.
According to Alex McCarthy of TalkSPORT, Edge's three-year deal is worth $3 million per year, as long as he competes three times a year. Edge is reportedly committed to five matches a year, with the first being WWE Royal Rumble, and a total of 25 appearances.
WrestleVotes first reported that Edge's deal was for three years, saying the contract was for "significant money."
Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone later reported that Edge had talks with AEW, but it was unclear how serious those talks were. Vince McMahon reportedly told Edge if he were going to return, it would be in WWE, leading to Edge eventually getting cleared by a WWE doctor. According to McCarthy, Edge "may have used" AEW as leverage and that he never wanted to sign with the company. A source told McCarthy “Edge and Beth were smiling ear-to-ear” with the deal.
Edge followed up his in-ring return on Sunday with an appearance on Monday's WWE Raw. In the closing segment of the show, Edge cut a promo about his future and was assaulted by Randy Orton.
