MLW is reportedly unhappy with WWE due to allegations of WWE tampering with contracted Major League Wrestling talent, and attorneys have gotten involved.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that MLW attorneys contacted WWE's legal team recently alleging that the leader in sports entertainment attempted to tamper with contracted talent from MLW.
According to the report, this is not in response to MLW Superstar, Davey Boy Smith Jr. appearing on Wednesday, February 12th, 2020’s episode of WWE’s The Bump on YouTube but in relation to “multiple talents.”
The report notes that ever since MLW began signing talent in 2018, their contracts have had language regarding the prohibiting of talent working WWE dates, with a note that the promotion strengthened its language against working dates for other promotions after AEW was formed in 2019. During a Starrcast convention, Cody Rhodes made reference to becoming aware of contract tampering when trying to initially sign Tony Schiavone, who was initially exclusive to MLW.
Furthermore, the report states that one MLW source has claimed the promotion has an "abundance" of evidence should the matter need to go to court, although they remain hopeful that that will not be necessary.
Fightful will provide any updates to this matter as they become available.
