Report: WWE Wants Drew McIntyre Back By WWE Money In The Bank, Update On His Absence

WWE reportedly wants Drew McIntyre back by Money in the Bank.

McIntyre has been absent from WWE in recent months, as he has not wrestled since WrestleMania 39, where Gunther defeated him and Sheamus to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship. McIntyre was selected by WWE Raw in the WWE Draft, but he has not appeared on the show.

Fightful Select previously reported that McIntytyre's contract is up in early 2024, and he was willing to explore options elsewhere. He had been working banged up leading into WrestleMania, and he wanted to get through the show. However, there was said to have been frustration with situations where McIntyre and WWE were not on the same page. There had been pitches for his return, but sources expected him to push back and make sure it made sense.

In an update, PWInsider reports that there has been a push within WWE creative to get McIntyre into the mix, and the company wants to have him back by WWE Money in the Bank in London on July 1. Per Johnson, there were pitched last week involving pitches for McIntyre's return. There has been no update on the former WWE Champion signing a new deal, and sources noted that the conversations centered around how McIntyre would be used from a storyline perspective, specifically in terms of how meaningful the story is.

Johnson wrote that it's believed that McIntyre doesn't want to float around aimlessly when he has proven how important he can be to the company. The report also noted that the belief is that McIntyre will not be back until he and WWE can come to an agreement on how he will be used moving forward.
