AEW hosted its latest episode of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, live from the Gas South Arena in Duluth, GA.
This week features Swerve Strickland & AR Fox vs. Darby Allin & Nick Wayne. Jack Perry plans to retire the FTW Title, The Gunns & Juice Robinson take on Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks, and more.

AEW Dynamite (8/23/23) Results
* The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks) vs. Juice Robinson & The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn) is a no-contest. The Elite jumps Robinson and The Gunns, and a brawl begins with the match never actually getting started because Robinson attacks Nick Jackson with a chair and then knocks out the referee for trying to take it from him. Jay White also gets involved, as does Konosuke Takeshita, who attacks Kenny Omega. FTR eventually comes out and helps even the numbers for The Elite. Takeshita and Omega are left alone in the ring, with Omega executing a V-Trigger, avoiding a rolling elbow. Takeshita manages to leap out of the ring before Omega can hit the One-Winged Angel.
- Renee Paquette interviews MJF. According to MJF, AEW All In would not have been possible without those who came before him. MJF mentions Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Undertaker, Stone Cold, and The Rock as industry "giants" and claims he may become one himself on Sunday. MJF claims he's never had a true friend like Cole before, and this isn't a job. MJF says that Cole has helped him grow and that they are brothers, and while brothers fight, but they hug it out at the end of the day. MJF claims to be vulnerable for the first time and invites fans to join him on the adventure, promising it'll pay off.
* Jon Moxley def. Rey Fenix
- After, Blackpool Combat Club assaults Fenix with a crowbar. Ortiz returns to TV blocks Eddie Kingston and Penta from making the save. Santana, who has also come back, joins him in betraying Eddie Kingston. Orange Cassidy and Best Friends enter the fight and help fend off the Blackpool Combat Club. Medical personnel arrive to examine Fenix. He is carried away on a stretcher. Later, he was carted off in an ambulance.
- Sammy Guevara was questioned about saving Chris Jericho. He is confronted by Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, and Daniel Garcia. Guevara claims that Jericho has been his friend since the beginning of AEW so he must be there for him. Parker wonders if Jericho would do the same for him.
- Chris Jericho and Will Ospreay are in the ring, ready to sign the contract for their match. Ospreay says this match will change his life. Jericho says that Will owes him his career. Ospreay tries to get physical when Chris Jericho says that he prevented him from being in a wheelchair. They are pulled apart to end the segment.- In an interview with Renee Paquette, Adam Cole talked about his friendship with MJF. Renee shows him footage of why people think The Kingdom & Roddy Strong may have a point in not trusting Adam Cole. Cole gets angry and storms off.
* Tornado Tag Team: Darby Allin & Nick Wayne def. Swerve Strickland & AR Fox
- After the match, Swerve fires AR Fox for losing. Darby, Wayne, and Sting come out to save Fox from Strickland and Brian Cage. Christian Cage & Luchasaurus come out. Christian teases Nick Wayne for the passing of his father. It's not made clear who is going to fill in for Fox at Wembley.
- With Renee Paquette, FTR and the Young Bucks discuss the significance of their AEW World Tag Team Championship fight at AEW All In. Dax Harwood highlights how important it is for their legacy. Matt Jackson becomes enraged and claims that the Young Bucks are the reason FTR has jobs. He believes the Young Bucks will be regarded as the best team of all time, but FTR will be known as the team they named on their YouTube program.
* Ruby Soho (w/ Toni Storm) def. Skye Blue
- Roderick Strong claims that by the conclusion of AEW All In, we'll find out who the actual MJF and Adam Cole are.
- The Acclaimed came out with no music and demanded to see the House of Black in a fight right now. HOB comes out and surrounds them. Acclaimed are saved by a returning Billy Gunn, who challenges House of Black for AEW All In but says he's leaving the fun-loving Daddy Ass in the States, and Bad Ass Billy Gun is coming to England.
- The Jack Perry segment was moved from tonight to Saturday Collision.
* ROH World Tag Team Championship: Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) (c) def. The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy)
- After the match, MJF and Adam Cole confronted Aussie Open. A brawl breaks out. They go for a double clothesline on Mark. He gets out of dodge. Max goes for a kangaroo kick on Kyle. Mark saves his partner. Adam goes for a superkick on Kyle, who moves out of the way and Adam almost kicks MJF, but he's ready for it and catches Adam's foot, and there's a brief moment of tension before they hug it out and celebrate to end the show that was a good episode.
