IMPACT Wrestling Results (4/14/22): Jonathan Gresham Takes On Rocky Romero, JONAH Faces PCO + More!

Anthony Bowens Comments On The Acclaimed Possibly Breaking Up

The show begins and our commentary team of Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwoldt welcome us to tonight's show and out comes W. Morrissey. The big man says the last time he was here, he was at the lowest point of his life, with nowhere to go...but he's glad to be back clean and sober. 'Morrissey! Morrissey! Morrissey!' chants ring throughout the 2300 Arena. Brian Myers' interrupts. Myers says Morrissey can only blame himself because he's 'pissed away' every good opportunity that's been afforded to him. Myers tries to leave but Morrissey lays him out, tosses Myers to the outside, sets up a table and looks for a power-bomb through it but Chelsea Green makes the save. Morrissey stops himself from attacking Green and Matt Cardona comes out of nowhere and drills Morrissey with his IMPACT Wrestling Digital Media Championship. Cardona and Myers power-bomb Morrissey through the aforementioned announce table and celebrate with Green before we head to a commercial break.

Back from the break and it's time for our opening contest of the evening.

Deonna Purrazzo (C) vs. TBA (Willow Nightingale) — Ring of Honor Women's or Reina de Reinas Championship Open Challenge

The double champ makes her way down to the ring and Willow Nightingale answers the open challenge! Willow chooses the Ring of Honor Women's Championship and this one is underway. Willow goes on the offensive early, plants the champion with a slam, Deonna comes back with a forearm, Willow sends her back with a super-kick and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and Deonna wallops the challenger with a clothesline before going for the cover but Willow kicks out. Willow fights back with some strikes, a slam then a cannonball to a cornered Deonna before going for the cover but the champion lifts the shoulders after a count of two. Deonna knocks Willow back with an elbow then plants her with a standing moonsault but Willow catches her and counters into the Bae Breaker DVD and then a cover but Deonna kicks out at two-and-a-half! Willow goes up top, Deonna trips her and slams her down with a power-bomb, Willow gets right back up and goes for a running lariat but Deonna trips her and locks-in the Fujiwara arm-bar and gets the tap!

We then see Mickie James backstage. Mickie talks about she and Nick Aldis' win over Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona at Multiverse of Matches and Green comes out of nowhere and attacks Mickie. She, Cardona and Brian Myers laugh over Mickie as we head to a commercial break.

Back from the break and IMPACT Wrestling Women's World Champion Tasha Steelz is backstage. Tasha says no matter what they've done, she's not afraid of Rosemary and Havok. Tasha talks about she and Rosemary's history over the past year-or-so and says she hasn't forgotten about any of it. Rosemary appears on the monitor behind Tasha and the champion exits and we cut back to the ringside area where it's time for our next matchup.

Jonathan Gresham vs. Rocky Romero

Gresham with a takedown to start, Rocky comes back with an arm-drag and the pair exchange some grappling early-on. Gresham with an inside-out flip and arm-drag that knocks Romero out of the ring and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and the grappling continues until both competitors knock each other back with a simultaneous drop-kick. Both struggle to their feet, chops to the chest are traded, Romero nails Gresham with an enziguri and goes for the cover but Gresham kicks out. Rocky sends the champion to the outside with a hurricanrana, Gresham comes back in, trips Romero out of the ring and sends him crashing into the barricade with a dive through the ropes. Gresham sends Romero back into the ring, they exchange roll-ups, Gresham locks-up Romero with a nifty leverage pin and gets the 1-2-3!

Winner - Jonathan Gresham

After the match, Romero stares down Gresham, who offers his hand for a hand-shake, Romero shakes Gresham's hand then raises the champion's arm as we cut backstage where Eddie Edwards was watching the match on a nearby monitor. We then see a video package hyping up Moose vs. Josh Alexander for the IMPACT Wrestling World Championship at Rebellion. IMPACT Wrestling X-Division Champion Trey Miguel, Ace Austin and 'Speedball' Mike Bailey are arguing backstage about who's going to win their title match at Rebellion and we head to a commercial break.

Back from the break and it's time for our next match of the night.

Alex Shelley (with Chris Sabin) vs. Steve Maclin

Maclin shows off his power early. Shelley sends Maclin to the outside, Maclin comes storming back with a slam. Shelley tosses Maclin to the corner and unloads a bevy of strikes, Maclin reverses momentum and scoops Shelley onto the top turnbuckle and flips him upside down into the tree of woe and drills him with a spear before going for the cover but Shelley lifts the shoulders after a two-count. Shelley comes back with a few forearms, then a clothesline on Maclin before drilling him with a super-kick then a Sliced Bread before going for the cover but Maclin kicks out. Shelley nails Maclin with a round-house kick and looks for the Shell Shock but transitions into a flat-liner that drives Maclin into the top turnbuckle. Maclin sends Shelley to the apron and rocks Shelley with a knee and Shelley spills to the outside, Sabin stops a further attack, Maclin shoves Sabin aside and dives onto Shelley with an elbow. Sabin and Maclin stare each other down and Shelley uses the distraction to crack Maclin with another Sliced Bread after spring-boarding off of the ring post. Shelley goes up top and looks for a stomp, Maclin rolls out, stares down Sabin once again but Shelley plants Maclin with the Shell Shock for the three-count!

We then see Madison Rayne backstage, who's on the phone with Tenille Dashwood. The Influence talk about firing Kaleb with A K on BTI, earlier tonight and Madison is interrupted by Gisele Shaw. Gisele says that Madison and Tenille shouldn't have fired Kaleb. Madison mocks Gisele for losing their tag title match at Multiverse of Matches and says she and Tenille will be perfectly fine. Gisele rolls her eyes and says that we'll see about that and we head to a commercial break.

Back from the break and we see another video package hyping up the IMPACT World Championship match between champion, Moose and the challenger, Josh Alexander at Rebellion is shown.

Eddie Edwards, Kenny King, Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, Vincent, PCO and Maria Kanellis of Honor No More make their way down to the ring. Edwards talks down about Philadelphia, as do Bennett and Taven. Jay White, Chris Bey, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson of Bullet Club interrupt. Jay White trashes Honor No More and says Bullet Club is the most dominant faction in IMPACT Wrestling and everywhere else. Maria tells Bullet Club to prove it and the brawl immediately breaks out. PCO falls back and JONAH's music hits, the big man makes his way out the ring and after a commercial break, it's time for our main event of the evening.

JONAH vs. PCO

A heavy striking exchange to start. PCO dumps JONAH to the outside and the brawl ensues. JONAH cracks PCO in the neck with an elbow, PCO goes over to the times-keeper area and finds electrical tape and wraps a bunch of it around his throat and JONAH clocks him with a forearm to the throat and launches him into the barricade and we head to a commercial break. Back from the break and JONAH sends PCO to the corner but PCO fights out of it with a diving clothesline. JONAH counters and plants PCO with a pile-driver and goes for the cover but PCO kicks out at one! PCO comes back and slams JONAH then goes up top and looks for the moonsault but JONAH slides out. PCO knocks JONAH back one more time and goes back up top and this time, looks for a senton but again, JONAH slides out. JONAH goes to the middle rope and plants PCO with a Tsunami Splash and gets the 1-2-3!

Winner - JONAH

After the match, JONAH attacks PCO, who sits right back up but JONAH wallops him with a chair and lands a few follow-up shots to make sure PCO stays down. PCO tries to get back up but JONAH lands another Tsunami Splash, this time with a chair on top of PCO and JONAH celebrates as the show goes off-the-air.
