NJPW New Japan Cup ’20 Quarterfinal Round Match
Hiromu Takahashi vs. Tomohiro Ishii

The match begins with Takahashi attacking Ishii with shoulder tackles, Ishii drops Takahashi with multiple shoulder blocks. Ishii gets Takahashi up to attack him with some strikes, Ishii corners Takahashi before landing more strikes. Takahashi starts firing back and he gets into a striking exchange with Ishii, Ishii drops Takahashi before stomping away in him. Takahashi gets up and Ishii knocks him out of the ring with a headbutt, Ishii gets Takahashi back in the ring before kicking him in the back. Takahashi gets up and Ishii levels him with more strikes, Takahashi fights back and he drops Ishii before landing a basement drop kick. Takahashi follows up on that by nailing Ishii with a hurricarana, Takahashi looks for a suplex and Ishii winds up landing one on him. Takahashi recovers and he drops Ishii with a shoulder tackle, Takahashi then hits Ishii with a falcon arrow for a near fall. Ishii tries fighting back and Takahashi nails him with a shotgun drop kick, Ishii gets up and he tackles Takahashi into the corner. Takahashi and Ishii have a back and forth until Ishii lands a back drop driver, Ishii looks for a power bomb and Takahashi counters with a hurricarana into a triangle choke. Ishii gets free before nailing Takahashi with a buckle bomb, Ishii then gets Takahashi on the top rope and he follows him up there.

Ishii gets Takahashi off the ropes by landing a superplex for a near fall, Ishii looks for his lariat and Takahashi defends before eating an enziguri. Ishii follows up by finally nailing Takahashi with a lariat, Takahashi gets up and Ishii levels him with a forearm strike. Ishii then nails Takahashi with a sliding lariat for a near fall, Ishii goes for a brain buster and Takahashi counters with a roll up. Ishii then goes for a power bomb and Takahashi counters with another roll up before eating another lariat, Ishii goes for a brain buster and Takahashi gets free to land a super kick followed by a Dynamite Plunger for a near fall. Takahashi gets Ishii up and he nails with a death valley driver into the corner, Ishii recovers to hit Takahashi with a release German suplex. Takahashi gets up and he drops a swinging Ishii with a headbutt, Takahashi follows up by clobbering Ishii with a lariat. Takahashi then hits Ishii with a Time Bomb for another near fall, Ishii fights back to nail Takahashi with a headbutt. Takahashi quickly recovers and he nails Ishii with a brain buster and Time Bomb #2 for a three count.

Winner: Hiromu Takahashi

NJPW New Japan Cup ’20 Quarterfinal Round Match
Yoshi-Hashi vs. Evil

The match begins with Evil attacking Yoshi-Hashi with a chair shot as he enters the ring, Evil wraps a chair around the leg of Yoshi-Hashi while hitting it with another. Yoshi-Hashi gets free after some ref help and Evil attacks his injured leg, Yoshi-Hashi gets up again and he attacks Evil with a few strikes. Evil drops Yoshi-Hashi before stomping away on the injured leg, Evil gets Yoshi-Hashi in a sharp shooter and the submission comes after a long struggle.

Winner: Evil

Los Ingobernables (Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi & Bushi) vs. Yuya Uemura & Chaos (Hirooki Goto & Sho)

The match begins with Uemura attacking Takagi with shoulder tackles and strikes, Uemura then hits Takagi with an arm drag followed by a drop kick. Uemura drops Takagi with a shoulder tackle before tagging Sho in, Sho immediately attacks the arm of Takagi. Sho follows up by nailing Takagi with a suplex for a near fall, Sho keeps Takagi down while attacking him with kicks. Takagi gets up and he gets into a striking exchange with Sho, Sho ends the exchange by going for an arm bar and Takagi gets free to land a wheel barrow slam. The rest of LIJ hit the ring to attack the other team and a brawl between both teams spills all over the place, Takagi gets Sho out of the ring before throwing him into the barricade. Takagi gets Sho in the ring before tagging Naito in, Naito immediately attacks Sho with strikes before briefly applying a Rings Of Saturn to him. Bushi tags in and he chokes Sho with his shirt, Bushi then drops Sho with a neck breaker before stomping away on him. Takagi tags in and he cracks Sho with a headbutt, Sho looks for a spear next and Takagi counters with a DDT. Sho recovers and he finally nails Takagi with a spear, Goto tags in and he cleans house against the opposing team. Goto drops Naito with a back drop driver for a near fall, Naito fights back and he nails Goto with an enziguri followed by a tornado DDT.

Bushi tags in and he nails Goto with a missile drop kick, Bushi follows up by nailing Goto with a running knee strike. Goto recovers to drop Bushi with a clothesline and tag Uemura in, Uemura instantly attacks Bushi with strikes and a drop kick. Uemura and Sho double team Bushi before Uemura lands a suplex for a near fall, everybody from both teams hit the ring and they all take each other out. Uemura then catches Bushi with a roll up for a near fall, Uemura and Bushi have a striking exchange until Bushi lands an enziguri. Bushi then hits Uemura with a spinning fisherman buster for a near fall, Bushi follows up by landing a double knee strike on Uemura for a three count.

Winners: Los Ingobernables (Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi & Bushi)

Kazuchika Okada vs. Taiji Ishimori

The match begins with Ishimori raking the eyes of Okada before landing a few strikes, Okada recovers and he drops a charging Ishimori with a boot to the face. Okada attacks Ishimori with an elbow strike to the back of the neck, Okada follows up with a slingshot swanton bomb on Ishimori. Okada focuses his attack on the neck of Ishimori by landing more elbow strikes, Okada then uses a basement drop kick to knock Ishimori out of the ring. Gedo comes out and he distracts Okada so Ishimori can attack him from behind, Ishimori knocks Okada out of the ring before throwing him into the barricade. Gedo grabs a wrench and he attacks Okada with it, Ishimori gets Okada back in the ring before applying a chin lock to him. Ishimori releases the hold before applying a kravat to Okada, Ishimori releases that and he traps Okada in the ropes before landing a sliding German suplex for a near fall. Ishimori keeps Okada down while holding him in another chin lock, Ishimori releases that hold and Okada nails him with a flapjack a short time later. Okada gets up and he nails Ishimori with a series of elbow strikes, Okada corners Ishimori next before landing a back elbow strike and a DDT for a near fall.

Ishimori fights back and he drops Okada with a handspring enziguri, Ishimori then hits Okada with a double knee strike. Okada fights back and Ishimori briefly gets him in a LeBell Lock, Okada catches a charging Ishimori to land a modified neck breaker. Okada goes to the top rope and Gedo gets him off by distracting him, Ishimori then knocks Okada to the arena floor with a handstand kick. Ishimori follows up by nailing Okada with a suicide dive, Ishimori gets Okada back in the ring to get a near fall on a pin attempt. Ishimori knocks Okada into the corner before landing a running double knee strike for a near fall, Okada tries fighting back and Ishimori gets him in a LeBell Lock. Okada eventually gets to the ropes to break the submission attempt, Ishimori goes for a brain buster and Okada escapes to land a drop kick. Okada goes for a tombstone pile driver and Ishimori escapes to land a gut buster for a near fall, Okada recovers and he nails Ishimori with a tombstone pile driver. Okada catches Ishimori in a cobra clutch and Gedo jumps on the ring apron to distract him, Okada reapplies the cobra clutch and Okada releases it before accidentally taking out the ref. Gedi hits the ring and he attacks Okada, Gedo puts brass knuckles on and Okada nails him with a shotgun drop kick.

Okada follows up by nailing Ishimori with a drop kick, Okada reapplies the cobra clutch to Ishimori and Ishimori taps out.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada

NJPW New Japan Cup ’20 Quarterfinal Round Match
Sanada vs. Taichi

The match begins with Sanada attacking the arm of Taichi until Taichi gets to the ropes, Taichi gets control and he backs Sanada into the corner while choking him. Taichi knocks Sanada out of the ring and he throws him into the barricade, Taichi traps Sanada on a barricade before choking him on it. Taichi drags Sanada back to ringside before throwing him into the barricade, Taichi gets Sanada back in the ring and he chokes him multiple times. Sanada tries fighting back and he finally drops Taichi before landing a basement drop kick, Sanada follows up by nailing Taichi with a drop kick to the knee. Taichi leaves the ring and Sanada takes him down with a dive, Sanada knocks Taichi into the barricade next before attacking him with a few strikes. Sanada gets Taichi back in the ring and Taichi immediately attacks him, Sanada fights back and he gets Taichi in a rope assisted Paradise Lock. Sanada frees Taichi from the hold by landing a basement drop kick, Taichi fights back and he corners Sanada before landing a head kick. Taichi and Sanada have a striking exchange in the middle of the ring, the exchange ends after Taichi and Sanada both go down.

Taichi gets up first and he goes for a super kick, Sanada blocks it and he applies the Cold Skull to Taichi a few moments later. Taichi gets free and he nails Sanada with a back drop driver, Taichi then hits Sanada with a forearm strike. Taichi goes for Black Mephisto and Sanada escapes to hit Taichi with a rope assisted neck breaker, Sanada then catches Taichi in a roll up for a near fall. Sanada goes for the Cold Skull again on Taichi and Yoshinobu Kanemaru hits the ring to distract the ref while Taichi is tapping out, Sanada goes after Kanemaru and Taichi nails him with a back drop driver. Taichi gets Sanada in the Cold Skull and Sanada eventually makes it to the ropes to break the hold, Taichi looks for a power bomb and Sanada counters with a back body drop. Taichi recovers and he nails Sanada with a series of head kicks, Taichi then hits Sanada with a bridging suplex for a near fall. Taichi goes for the Axe Bomber and Sanada counters with a hurricarana, Sanada then nails Taichi with a TKO. Sanada goes for the Cold Skull again and he releases it to go to the top rope, Kanemaru returns and he rakes the eyes of Sanada. Taichi kicks Sanada in the balls and he looks for a roll up, Sanada escapes and he knocks Taichi into Kanemaru before rolling him up for a three count.

Winner: Sanada
