STARDOM 5STAR Grand Prix Day 9 Results (8/27/22): Giulia vs. Starlight Kid, Utami Hayashishita vs. Maika, And More

STARDOM continued the 5STAR Grand Prix on Saturday with Day 9 of action as they returned to Korakuen Hall in Tokyo for a supersized show featuring 10 tournament matches -- five from each block. The main event would see Giulia and Starlight Kid reignite their rivalry that became incredibly personal over a year ago and has left them at odds to this day. Other matches included Utami Hayashishita and Maika going head-to-head as well as Natsupoi vs. Suzu Suzuki.

Before the 5STAR Grand Prix festivities began, STARDOM revealed some information regarding the IWGP World Championship tournament. Two of the three competitors on the international side of the bracket were shown on the video screen as Ava White and former World of Stardom Champion, Alpha Female (aka Jazzy Gabert) will compete at NJPW's Royal Quest II to see who advances to the semifinals of the tournament.

On the STARDOM side of the bracket, there was a lottery to decide which four of the six factions in STARDOM would be represented. STARS, Queen's Quest, Oedo Tai, and Donna del Mondo were all selected while God's Eye and Cosmic Angels will have no representatives. STARDOM also announced the competing members from each faction will be decided via the 5STAR Grand Prix.

And finally, Rina Yamashita appeared to make the save to help Giulia, who was attacked by Starlight Kid and Momo Watanabe after the lottery. Giulia will team with Yamashita to face Starlight Kid and Momo Watanabe in a Hardcore Match.
