Good evening Fight Fans, and welcome to our coverage of tonight's edition of WWE NXT proper from Full Sail Live in Orlando, Florida! Please enjoy the show and be sure to stick around afterwards for the post-show podcast!
-We open the show with a vignette for the death of Rocky Johnson before we get a video package recapping last week's show as well as Undisputed Era invading NXT UK and attacking Imperium.
-Keith Lee comes out to the ring and talks about his match against Roderick Strong for the North American Championship on next week's show before he's interrupted and attacked by the entirety of Undisputed Era. UE then try to break Keith's ankle by wedging it between a chair and stomping on it before he's saved by Tommaso Ciampa.
-We get a vignette for Finn Bálor and Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover:Portland before we see all of the top women involved in the battle royal in tonight's main event.
Dusty Classic Opening Round Match
Pete Dunne & Matt Riddle vs South Wales Subculture
Mark and Pete kick things off by running the ropes before Matt comes in and all four men face off as we go to commercial.
We come back to Matt in control before he tags in Pete who hits Flash with an x-plex before Matt hits a senton and Flash manages to dodge them both before tagging Mark in. Mark takes out both Pete and Matt before hitting Matt with a tornado DDT and clearing the ring. Flash hits a rope and an assisted 450 once they're back in the ring for two before Pete knocks Flash out of the air with a forearm when he goes for a springboard. Pete hits a release German suplex and stomps Mark's hands before he and Matt drop Flash with the Final Flash and a roundhouse kick for a near fall that Mark breaks up. Matt hits Mark with a senton and Pete begins to focus on his ankles before locking in an ankle lock that Mark kicks out of.
Mark then hits a northern lights suplex and rolls through into a jumping stomp as we go to commercial.
-We return to Flash alone in the ring before hitting a flipping senton and taking out both Matt and Pete before Matt catches Mark coming off of the top turnbuckle and takes out Flash. Mark hits a reverse huricanrrana into a knee by Flash to Matt for a near fall before Matt spears both members of SWS and hits a Pele kick after Flash gets a near fall off of an inside cradle. Matt and Pete get another near fall before Pete and Mark come in and Mark counters the Bitter End into Stundog Millionaire. Pete and Matt then hit Mark with the Bitter End into a Final Flash knee for the pin and the win after Matt hits Flash with the Bro Derek at ringside.
Winner: Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle defeat South Wales Subculture to advance to the next round of the tournament.
-We get a video highlighting Undisputed Era's attack on Imperium at NXT UK Takeover:Blackpool II this past Sunday before we get a promo by a rightfully furious WALTER.
-We go backstage for an impending update on the condition of Keith Lee after being attacked by the Undisputed Era as we go to commercial.
-Tommaso Ciampa comes out to the ring and talks about getting Goldie back before he's attacked by Undisputed Era and is saved by Johnny Gargano before the fans chant DIY. We then get a graphic for the battle royal and the second of two Dusty Classic matches tonight which is up next as we go to commercial.
Dusty Classic Opening Round Match
KUSHIDA & Alex Shelley vs Grizzled Young Veterans
Alex and Zack start off for their respective teams before GYV double up on Alex and Alex chops James before he and KUSHIDA clear the ring. KUSHIDA and Alex then hit dueling topes before Alex tosses James back into the ring and they run the ropes until KUSHIDA drops James with an elbow. James gets the tag to Zack before KUSHIDA gets the blind tag and gets hit with a drop toe hold into a basement dropkick for his troubles. KUSHIDA and Alex then hit a double suplex for two before James gets the blind tag and GYV knock KUSHIDA off of the apron and drop Alex as we go to commercial.
We return to James in control of Alex, GYV hitting their signature slingshot diving knee into a backbreaker at ringside before Zack hits a back suplex for two. KUSHIDA enters the match and takes out both Drake and Gibson before locking in an armbar on James before he gets to the ropes and James hits a superkick into a hangman neckbreaker by Zack for two. KUSHIDA fights off both members of GYV before Alex hits a diving splash and KUSHIDA a standing moonsault for a near fall that Zack breaks up. KUSHIDA hits a Muta lock into a dropkick by Alex before KUSHIDA is pushed from the top turnbuckle and James counters a shiranui into a tombstone. Zack then hits a Ticket to Mayhem to Alex for the pin and the win.
Winner: Grizzled Young Veterans defeat Alex Shelley and KUSHIDA via pinfall when Zack hits Alex with a Ticket to Mayhem to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
-Alex and KUSHIDA try to shake hands with GYV, but they'll have none of it before Zack says that they're a great tag team of the past, but Grizzled Young Veterans are the present and future before saying that they're going to win the entire tournament.
-We go to Chelsea Green and Robert Stone earlier today where Robert cuts a promo before we get a graphic for the battle royal and a video package for Lio Rush, Isaiah Scott and Tyler Breeze who are up next as we go to commercial.
-We get a video of Finn Bálor examining tape of Ilja Dragunov who he will face at Worlds Collide.
NXT Cruiserweight Championship Number One Contender Triple Threat Match
Tyler Breeze vs Isaiah Scott vs Lio Rush
Everyone square off before Tyler tells Lio and Scott to bring it before dropping them both and Scott hits a huricanrrana before dropping Lio as we see Angel Garza on commentary. Scott kicks Tyler against the ropes before Lio drops Scott from behind and traps Tyler in the ropes before Lio and Isaiah flip out of the ring. Lio then hits Scott with a huricanrrana before Tyler knocks Lio off of the apron and down onto the floor as we go to commercial.
We return to Scott and Rush trying to suplex each other into the ring before Tyler hits Isaiah with a German suplex and makes Scott suplex Lio. Everyone runs the ropes in opposite directions until Tyler clears the ring and Lio hits him with a suicide dive before Scott hits a Fosbury flop. Scott turns Rush inside out with a lariat for two once they're back in the ring before Tyler superkicks Lio and hits Scott with a cheeky nandos kick for two. Lio sends Tyler out of the ring and hits Scott with a reverse huricanrrana before hitting Tyler with a suicide dive. Lio hits Scott with the Final Hour for a near fall that Tyler breaks up before a superkick party ensues and Lio hits Tyler with the Final Hour and Scott with a rebound stunner.
Scott then hits Tyler with the House Call and a variation of a Michinoku driver for the pin and the win.
Winner: Isaiah Scott defeats Tyler Breeze and Lio Rush via pinfall with a variation of a Michinoku driver to gain entry to the Cruiserweight Championship Fatal Four Way match at Worlds Collide.
-After the match Rhea Ripley is interviewed backstage about the battle royal up next as we go to commercial.
-We come back to Ciampa and Gargano outside before they're rushed by Undisputed Era who are stopped by security before they run off when Keith Lee shows up and attacks security. We then get a graphic for Ciampa and Gargano reuniting to take on Moustache Mountain at Worlds Collide.
NXT Women's Championship Number One Contender Battle Royal Match
Everyone brawls until MJ Jenkins is the first person eliminated by Shayna Baszler before Bianca gets her first elimination and Shayna gets her second elimination off of a luchadora. Shayna then eliminates Kayden Carter next as we go to commercial.
We return to Deonna Purrazzo being eliminated before she pulls Shotzi out of the ring and Io eliminates Kacy and Bianca eliminates Candice. Mia sends Mercedes out onto the apron before eliminating Mia before Mercedes and Shayna exchange until Mercedes counters the Kirafuda clutch, but ends up getting eliminated herself. Tegan takes out the other four women left in the ring before sending Shayna out onto the apron and hitting Bianca with the Shiniest Wizard. Tegan goes up top and gets attacked by Dakota Kai who isn't even in the match and gets her eliminated before Shayna locks in the Kirafuda clutch to Io on the apron. Shotzi saves Io and eliminates Shayna in the process before she's eliminated and it's down to just Bianca and Io.
Io then counters the KOD and sends Bianca face first into the second turnbuckle before Bianca tosses Io out of the ring and wins the battle royal.
Winner: Bianca Belair wins the battle royal by being the last person in the ring to gain a shot at the NXT Women's Championship.
