- We open tonight's event with a video package for the history of Takeover and tonight's matches to the soundtrack of Metallica.
Finn Bälor vs Timothy Thatcher
Tim immediately takes Finn down and goes for an armbar before Finn reverses into one of his own. Tim and Finn grapple on the mat until they get to their feet and Tim chops Finn across the chest. Finn dumps Tim over the top rope before stomping him once he's back inside and Finn counters a bow and arrow and lands on top of Tim for two. Tim focuses on the ankle of Finn before kneeing and kicking him in the ribs and the spine. Finn takes Tim down only for Tim to lock in a double wrist lock before transitioning to a cross face.
Tim knees Finn in the ribs and locks in a front choke before locking in a double chicken wing that Finn counters into a northern lights suplex for two. Finn comes back with a basement dropkick before hitting a Pele kick before hitting running chops in the corner. Tim counters a sling blade before Finn takes him down and hits a jumping stomp before Tim counters 1916. Finn locks in an abdominal stretch before hitting a reverse DDT for two and follows up with a shotgun dropkick. Finn goes up top before missing a diving stomp and Tim locks in a single leg Boston crab.
Finn nearly taps before he gets to the bottom rope for the break before they rock each other with kicks. Tim hits a German suplex before locking in an ankle lock, Finn rolling through into a jumping stomp to get free. Finn then goes up top and hits the Coup de Grâce into the 1916 for the pin and the win.
Winner: Finn Bälor defeats Timothy Thatcher via pinfall.
- We go to earlier today to NXT champion Keith Lee making his way to the arena with Mia Yim.
- We briefly see Sasha and Bayley at ringside in crowd ahead of their title defenses tomorrow night against Asuka.
- We get a video package for all of the competitors in the North American Championship Ladder Match.
North American Championship Ladder Match
Reed and Priest clear the ring before Dream shoves Reed into Priest from behind and hits a famouser into a DDT. Dream tosses Grimes over the top rope and grabs a ladder before Grimes attacks him from behind. Grimes gets out a step ladder and gets hit from behind by Priest who brings a normal ladder out from underneath the ring. Gargano and Grimes struggle over the ladder before Johnny gets into the ring with the ladder. Priest rocks Johnny before Reed hits a fall away slam that sends Priest out of the ring before Dream gets back in and sends Reed over the top rope.
Priest and Dream set ladders up beside each other before Grimes knocks them off and climbs the two. Priest and Dream take out Grimes before Dream sends Priest out of the ring and Reed turns Grimes inside out with a lariat. Johnny climbs the ladder before he's snatched up by Reed who goes to powerbomb him and Grimes and Dream take him out. Dream and Gargano work together to take out Priest and Reed with a pair of ladders. Johnny throws a ladder at Dream before they hit a tower of doom and Johnny sets up a ladder in the center.
Priest stops Grimes from climbing the ladder before Reed slams Johnny and Priest nearly grabs the ladder before Dream stops him. Priest kicks out the feet of Dream before Johnny ducks Dream throwing a ladder into him, the ladder bouncing off of the plexiglass before Grimes takes out Johnny with a Spanish fly. Reed hits a suicide dive that takes out Johnny and Dream at ringside before Grimes sets the ladder up and gets dropped by a ladder shot from Priest. Priest uses the ladder against the ropes to hit a running front flip senton onto everyone besides Grimes on the floor. Grimes sets up the ladder and climbs it before Candice LeRae comes out and stops him. Johnny and Candice dispatch of everyone else before Johnny climbs the ladder and is stopped by Reed.
Candice climbs the back of Reed before Reed hits a dive off of the ladder with Candice on his back onto Johnny. Reed and Priest exchange strikes on one ladder before Grimes sets up a second ladder beside them which is bigger. Grimes knocks Priest off of the ladder before Dream stops him from grabbing it and nearly grabs the belt before he's knocked off by Priest. Priest chokeslams Reed into a ladder in the corner before Grimes hits him with the Cave In and Johnny powerbombs him off of ladder. Dream hits a DVD with Johnny onto Priest on a ladder before Dream climbs the ladder and Reed pushes it forward before Dream is launched in the air and out of the ring and over the barricade.
Grimes knocks Reed off of the apron before Johnny knocks Grimes off when he sends the belt into Grimes. Johnny then gets into a tug of war with Priest which Priest wins and Johnny falls off of the ladder with Priest holding the belt for the win.
Winner: Damian Priest defeats Johnny Gargano, Velveteen Dream, Bronson Reed and Cameron Grimes to become the new North American champion.
- We get a video package for the feud between Adam Cole and Pat McAfee.
Adam Cole vs Pat McAfee
They lock up before Adam takes Pat down with a side headlock before Pat pulls his hair and backs Adam into the corner for the break. Pat nearly gets superkicked before they lock up and Pat puts Adam in a side headlock. Pat escapes the ring to avoid a boot by Adam before talking trash to Adam at ringside. UE come out and get into a fight with Pat and his guys before Pat hits a flipping senton off of the top onto everyone at ringside. Back in the ring Pat rocks Adam with a right hand before stomping him in the corner and dropping Adam with a right hand.
Pat plays to the crowd before suplexing Adam for two and locking in a rear chin lock before dropkicking Adam. They slap each other before they start brawling and Adam comes back with a pump kick. Adam hits an ushigoroshi for two before Pat ducks a kick and rolls Adam up for two. Pat crotches Adam on the top turnbuckle before Adam shoves him off and Pat lands on his feet. Pat hops on the top turnbuckle and hits a superplex for two before Pat accidentally kicks the steps. Adam kicks out the leg of Pat once they're back in the ring before locking in a figure four.
Pat gets to the ropes for the break before tapping before Adam hits a running boot and stomps Pat in the corner. Pat kicks Adam low and turns him inside out with a lariat before dropping Adam with a PK for a near fall. Pat then goes up top before Adam superkicks him in mid-air and hits the Panama Sunrise for the pin and the win.
Win: Adam Cole defeats Pat McAfee via pinfall.
- We go to the announce desk where Drew McIntyre is interviewed and picks Lee to retain over Kross.
NXT Women's Championship Match
Io Shirai (c) vs Dakota Kai w/Raquel Gonzalez
Io goes right after Kai before hitting a dragon screw and stomping Kai in the corner. Io chases Dakota around ringside before getting distracted by Raquel and Kai sends Io into the post. Kai gets a two count once they're back in the ring before wrenching the arm of Io and rocking her with a boot. Kai drops Io with a pump kick for two before she starts focusing on the injured left arm of Io. Io rolls Kai up for two before Kai knocks her down for a two count of her own and goes back to the arm of the champion.
Io comes back with a flap jack into a one armed 619 and a springboard dropkick for two. They exchange standing switches before Io hits a rolling stomp and counters a powerbomb onto the floor with a jumping stomp. Back in the ring Io gets two before Kai kicks Io in the face repeatedly and rocks her with a scorpion kick. Kai misses a running boot in the corner before Io hits a trio of running meteoras in the corner. Io goes up top before Kai meets her and gets put in the tree of woe before Io hits a diving stomp for two.
Kai hits the Kai-Ropractor for a near fall before locking in an armbar and Io gets her foot on the bottom rope right before tapping. Kai hits a bloody cross for a near fall, Io getting her foot on the bottom rope before the count of three. Kai accidentally takes out the referee before Io hits a German suplex and climbs up top before hitting a moonsault, but the referee is incapacitated. Raquel attacks Io from behind and chokeslams her before putting Kai on top of her for a near fall. Io locks in a cross face before hitting a knee and taking out Kai and Gonzalez with a moonsault to the outside.
Back in the ring Io then hits Kai with a moonsault for the pin and the win.
Winner: Io Shirai retains her NXT Women's Championship by defeating Dakota Kai via pinfall.
- Raquel attacks Io from behind before she's saved by Rhea Ripley and they face off before Kai and Raquel leave. Io then celebrates in the ring as Rhea looks on from the ramp.
- We get a video package for the return of NXT UK next month on the 17th.
- We go to a brief interview with Damian Priest who jumps into a hot tub with a pair of girls to celebrate his winning the North American title.
NXT Championship Match
Keith Lee (c) vs Karrion Kross w/Scarlett
Lee rushes Kross and drops him with a shoulder block before rocking Kross with strikes. Lee hits a running cross body, Kross rolling out of the ring to regroup with Scarlett before Keith beats on Kross around ringside. Lee accidentally goes shoulder first into the post before getting his arm caught in between the plexiglass and the barricade. Back in the ring Kross focuses on the injured shoulder of Lee before locking in a hammer lock. Kross hits a flat liner before reapplying the hammer lock that he wrenches before Lee gets to his feet.
Kross locks in a flying armbar before Lee rolls him up for a two count and Kross transitions into a triangle. Lee powerbombs his way free of the triangle and drops Kross with strikes before hitting running splashes in the corner. Lee hits a regular powerslam rather than the Big Bang Catastrophe for two before countering a Doomsday Saito. Kross hits a DDT for two and follows up with strikes before Lee headbutts him. Lee suplexes Kross for two before Kross drops Lee with a lariat for two and they exchange strikes until Lee clotheslines Kross.
Kross locks in the Kross Jacket before Lee nearly passes out and gets to the bottom rope right before passing out. Lee then hits the Spirit Bomb for a near fall before they end up on the top turnbuckle and Kross hits an avalanche Doomsday Saito for the pin and the win.
Winner: Karrion Kross defeats Keith Lee via pinfall to become the new NXT champion.
