WWE Raw 5/18/20 Results: Women's Tag Title Match, Several Returns & Seth Rollins Has A New Follower

AEW Continental Classic 2024 Night One Recap

- The show starts with highlights of Becky Lynch’s pregnancy announcement and Asuka being awarded to Raw Women’s Championship, while a Lynch career highlight video package airs as well.

- Charly Caruso is in the ring and she talks about what went down last week between Edge and Randy Orton, Orton then makes his way to the ring. Orton doesn’t understand why people cannot comprehend his challenge to Edge, Orton talks about battling Edge in a Last Man Standing Match at ‘Mania 36. Orton says that Edge is not the superior wrestler when compared to him, Orton says most athletes and WWE stars cannot do what he does in the ring. Orton goes face to face with the camera to address Edge, Orton says he saw doubt in the eyes of Edge last week. Edge interrupts and makes his way to the ring, Edge says Orton spoke a lot of truths last week on Raw. Edge says that all this is to Orton is a game and a paycheck, Edge says being a wrestler was Orton’s backup plan and he doesn’t care. Edge talks about his own passion for being a professional wrestler, Edge talks about beating Orton to win the WWE Intercontinental Title over a decade ago. Edge says Orton doesn’t love the sport of pro wrestling like he does, Edge then accepts the challenge from Orton for WWE Backlash.

- Highlights are shown of Seth Rollins injuring Rey Mysterio during a tag team match last week on WWE Raw.

- Murphy approaches Seth Rollins backstage and Rollins says he had a revelation and he wants to take a walk.

- Seth Rollins & Murphy make their way to the ring, Rollins says that sometimes you have to lose who you are to truly find oneself. Rollins says he believed he lost everything after being defeated by Drew McIntyre at WWE Money In The Bank ‘20, Rollins says he has seen the light and that is thanks to Rey Mysterio. Rollins says some have described his attack against Mysterio as disgusting and unforgivable, Rollins says others have called it an act of penance. Rollins says that what happened to Mysterio was a sacrifice for a greater good, Rollins says it allowed him to be the leader he was meant to be. Rollins says Mysterio will come to understand that the attack was a blessing in disguise, Rollins says “you’re welcome” to Mysterio. Humberto Carrillo interrupts Rollins and he says that nobody believes him, Carrillo calls Rollins a coward before getting in the ring. Rollins says that he isn’t dressed to compete tonight, Rollins says that Murphy will face Carrillo instead.

Murphy w/Seth Rollins vs. Humberto Carrillo

The match is shown in progress and we see Carrillo nail Murphy with a springboard arm drag followed by a head scissors takedown. Murphy gets Carrillo to the ring apron before eating a head kick, Carrillo goes to the top rope and Murphy meets him up there before getting knocked off. Murphy recovers and he knocks Carrillo off the top rope, Murphy gets Carrillo in a seated position before landing multiple kicks to the back. Murphy keeps his attack focused on the back of Carrillo before applying a chin lock, Carrillo gets free after nailing Murphy with a jaw breaker. Carrillo then nails Murphy with a spinning head kick, Carrillo knocks Murphy to the arena floor before landing a suicide dive. Carrillo gets Murphy back in the ring before getting distracted by Rollins, Murphy nails a leaping Carrillo with a knee strike before landing Murphy’s Law for a three count.

Winner: Murphy w/Seth Rollins

After the match, Murphy continues attacking Humberto Carrillo until Aleister Black makes the save. Black and Murphy brawl on the arena floor and then into the ring, Murphy avoids Black Mass and he heads backstage with Seth Rollins.

- King Corbin is yelling at a stagehand backstage, a referee approaches Corbin and Corbin wonders what is going on with WWE Raw before hinting that the ref should help him win tonight.

- Liv Morgan appears and she talks about how her mom is her hero, Morgan says her mom’s determination is what inspires her. Morgan talks about facing NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair a few weeks ago on Raw, Morgan says she learned from the loss and she is determined like her mother is.

- Charlotte Flair makes her way to the ring to talk about all of her accomplishments, Flair talks about facing Bayley this coming week on Smackdown. Flair says she will teach Bayley that there are levels to being a champion, Flair says Ruby Riott has something to say and Riott makes her way to the ring.

Charlotte Flair vs. Ruby Riott

The match is joined in progress and we see Flair dropping Riott with chops, Flair knocks Riott out of the ring before following her out there. Riott causes Flair to accidentally chop the ring post, Riott traps the arm of Flair while landing forearm strikes. Flair recovers and she throws Riott into the ring post before getting her back in the ring, Flair then chokes Riott on the middle rope. Flair traps Riott in the corner and Riott fights back by sending her face first into the middle turnbuckle, Riott then hits Flair with a senton bomb for a near fall. Riott goes back to attacking the injured hand of Flair, Riott then nails Flair with a flat liner before manipulating Flair’s injured hand. Flair gets up and she drops Riott before stomping away on her, Flair misses a big boot and Riott rolls her up for a near fall. Riott goes for the Riott Kick and Flair blocks it before applying the Figure Eight to force a tap out.

Winner: Charlotte Flair

- Charly Caruso interviews Bobby Lashley, MVP interrupts and he says that they will not be doing business together. MVP again reminds that Lashley hasn’t competed for the WWE Championship in over a decade, MVP wonders when Lashley will free himself.

- Highlights are shown of last week's basketball game between The Street Profits and The Viking Raiders.

- The Street Profits are shown arriving for the axe throwing competition and they make their way to a viking campground, The Viking Raiders show The Street Profits the smoke from a campfire as their gift.

- Kairi Sane is in the ring and she says tonight is a celebration for Raw Women’s Champion Asuka, who makes her way to the ring. Asuka gets a microphone and embraces Sane after receiving some flowers, Asuka thanks Becky Lynch as well. Asuka says she cannot believe she is the Raw Women’s Champion, Sane talks about all of Asuka’s success in the WWE. Sane plays a flute while Asuka dances, Nia Jax interrupts the celebration and she comes to the ring. Jax gets a microphone and she questions the celebration because she claims that Asuka was handed the Raw Women’s Championship, Jax says she will soon replace Asuka as the champion. Jax says there will be a real celebration when she wins the title, Asuka attacks Jax and knocks her out of the ring.

- Charly Caruso interviews King Corbin, who says he is the king while Drew McIntyre is just a WWE Champion. Corbin says he has carried McIntyre in the past and McIntyre is still a dangerous person, McIntyre is shown watching Corbin’s interview.

- R-Truth is in the ring and he says that Pretty Ricky told him that Bobby Lashley is a bad man, R-Truth shows highlights of Lashley attacking him last week on Raw. R-Truth says he won’t give up like his hero John Cena, R-Truth issues a warning to Tom Brady.

R-Truth vs. Bobby Lashley

The match begins with R-Truth leaving the ring as Lashley approaches him, R-Truth turns into Pretty Ricky and they battle on the arena floor. Lashley throws R-Truth into the barricade before sending him into the ring post, Lashley gets R-Truth back into the ring before slapping him a few times. R-Truth fights back and he attacks Lashley with some strikes, Lashley recovers and he nails R-Truth with a clothesline followed by knee strikes. Lashley nails R-Truth with a full nelson slam before applying a full nelson to force a tap out.

Winner: Bobby Lashley

After the match, MVP comes on stage and he claps for Bobby Lashley.

- Lana is shown watching a monitor backstage and she gets angry.

- Asuka and Kairi Sane are shown backstage, Nia Jax watches as they go their separate ways.

- The IIconics get on the microphone before their title match to do some trash talking against Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross (c) vs. The IIconics (Billie Kaye & Peyton Royce)

The match begins with Kaye backing Bliss into the corner before tagging Royce in, Bliss quickly fights back against her opponents. Bliss drops Royce before landing a double knee drop, Cross tags in and she drops Royce for a near fall. Kaye makes a tag and Cross knocks her down before attacking Royce, Kaye attacks Cross from behind and she nails her with a suplex for a near fall. Cross recovers and she makes Kaye miss the big boot before tagging Bliss in, Bliss quickly cleans house against the opposing team. Bliss hits Kaye with Insult To Injury for a near fall, Royce interferes and Cross sends her out of the ring before eating a bog boot. Bliss then hits Kaye with a right before going to the top rope, Bliss hits Kaye with Twisted Bliss for a near fall. Royce interferes and she throws Bliss into the ring post multiple times to cause a DQ.

Winners: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross, by DQ, still the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions

- Kairi Sane is playing the flute backstage when Nia Jax approaches, Jax grabs Sane and she throws her into an equipment box.

- The IIconics are arguing backstage, Billie Kaye accuses Peyton Royce of blowing their title opportunity before slapping her in the face. Royce is in shock and she embraces Royce.

- Highlights are shown of Shayna Baszler defeating Natalya last week on Raw.

- Asuka is shown checking on an injured Kairi Sane backstage.

- Asuka confronts Nia Jax backstage, Jax tries leaving and Asuka attacks her.

Submission Match
Shayna Baszler vs. Natalya

The match begins with Baszler getting Natalya down with a headlock, Natalya gets free and Baszler nails her with a shoulder tackle. Natalya recovers to trip up Baszler, Natalya looks for the sharp shooter and Baszler counters with an ankle lock. Natalya kicks her way free and Baszler nails her with more strikes, Baszler then works over the arm of Natalya. Baszler drops Natalya before stomping away on her, Baszler looks for the sharp shooter and Natalya counters with one of her own. Baszler eventually gets to the ropes and she eventually drags herself out of the ring to break the hold, Natalya leaves the ring and she gets Baszler back in it. Natalya keeps Baszler down while attacking her with strikes, Natalya rolls for a knee bar and Baszler escapes to get Natalya in the rear naked choke to force a tap out.

Winner: Shayna Baszler

After the match, the ring crew starts setting up for The Kevin Owens Show while Natalya ponders the loss. Natalya gets angry and she starts destroying all the props for the show.

- Highlights are shown of Zelina Vega, Andrade, Angel Garza & Austin Theory arguing last week on Raw.

- Andrade, Angel Garza and Austin Theory are shown arguing again until Zelina Vega shows up to calm things down.

- Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring for The Kevin Owens Show, Owens condescendingly thanks Natalya for destroying the set. Owens says he hasn’t been around for awhile because he suffered an injury at ‘Mania 36, but he is healed and back. Owens brings out his guests in Zelina Vega, Andrade, Austin Theory and Andrade. Vega says that Owens was hoping for a Jerry Springer-like moment on the show tonight, Vega says her empire isn’t crumbling. Owens says he isn’t in the ring with them because things usually go off the rails, Owens brings out another guest in the returning Apollo Crews. Crews hits the ring and he attacks Andrade while everybody else tries breaking things up.

Apollo Crews & Kevin Owens vs. Angel Garza & Andrade w/Zelina Vega & Austin Theory

The match begins with Crews attacking Garza with a ton of strikes, Crews then nails Garza with a suplex slam. Owens tags in and he drops Garza before stomping away on him, Owens keeps Garza down while landing a senton. Andrade tags in and he drops Owens neck first on the top rope, Andrade drops Owens before kicking away at him. Andrade keeps Owens cornered while attacking him with more strikes, Owens recovers and he nails Andrade with a clothesline. Crews tags in and Garza gets a tag from Andrade as well, Crews quickly starts cleaning house against the opposing team. Vega interferes as Theory accidentally hits Garza, Crews then hits Garza with a toss power bomb for a three count.

Winners: Apollo Crews & Kevin Owens

After the match, Andrade attacks Austin Theory and Angel Garza eventually joins in on the attack. Zelina Vega also slaps Theory in the face as Garza and Andrade continue attacking him.

- Charly Caruso interviews Drew McIntyre, who says that he has been having a great time as champion. McIntyre calls the brand to brand invitational a great idea and his dream match takes place tonight against King Corbin, McIntyre says Corbin is out of his mind if he thinks he’ll win tonight.

- The Viking Raiders & The Street Profits are shown preparing for the axe throwing competition.

- The Street Profits are back at the axe throwing competition and Angelo Dawins throws the axe at the beer jug and beer leaks out. The vikings get angry as Montez Ford offers them his drink.

Aleister Black vs. Murphy w/Seth Rollins

The match begins with Black throwing his jacket at Murphy before attacking him with strikes, Murphy fights back and they get into a wild brawl. Black then drops a charging Murphy with a high kick, Murphy leaves the ring and Black follows him out there to land more strikes. Black goes for another kick and Murphy makes him kick the ring post, Murphy gets Black back in the ring and Black tries fighting back. Murphy leaps off the middle rope and Black kicks him in the face, Seth Rollins talks to Austin Theory as the match goes on. Black then hits Murphy with a knee strike, Black sets up for Black Mass and Theory attacks him from behind.

Winner: Aleister Black, by DQ

After the match, Austin Theory continues attacking Aleister Black and Murphy joins in a short time later. Seth Rollins and Theory embrace after the attack concludes.

- The official axe throwing competition takes place between The Viking Raiders and The Street Profits, which is won by The Viking Raiders. The cops show up with an axe in their car windshield, Angeloa dawkins makes a bullseye while throwing backwards.

- Charly Caruso interviews Apollo Crews, who says he has a lot to prove after being injured and he says he cannot waste any more time wondering what could’ve been. Crews challenges Andrade for the WWE United States Championship next week, Zelina Vega says Crews can never walk again if he faces Andrade next week.

- The cops are still at the axe throwing competition and they are giving everybody a lecture before hitting on Ivar.

- Bobby Lashley & MVP come on stage before the next match begins, MVP says he and Lashley are interested in this match. Lashley says that Drew McIntyre is on notice because he is coming after the WWE Championship.

Drew McIntyre vs. King Corbin

The match begins with McIntyre and Corbin battling for control, McIntyre backs Corbin into the corner before letting him go free. McIntyre and Corbin get into a shoving contest before locking up again, Corbin nails McIntyre with a knee strike before eating some chops. Corbin goes after the knee of McIntyre before landing more strikes in the corner, Corbin then drops McIntyre with a shoulder tackle. McIntyre fights back to hit Corbin with a shoulder tackle, McIntyre knocks Corbin out of the ring and then over the barricade. McIntyre knocks Corbin back into the ringside area before getting him back in the ring, McIntyre sets up for the Claymore Kick and Corbin escapes the ring. McIntyre chases Corbin around until Corbin knocks him into the barricade, Corbin grabs McIntyre and he throws him into the ring post. McIntyre gets back in the ring and Corbin attacks him with more strikes, McIntyre fights back and Corbin nails him with a clothesline for a near fall. McIntyre tries fighting back and Corbin knocks him to the ring apron, Corbin drags McIntyre to the top rope while landing more strikes. Corbin goes to the top rope and he nails McIntyre with a superplex for a near fall, McIntyre recovers and he hits Corbin with an overhead belly to belly suplex.

McIntyre goes to the top rope and he nails Corbin with a clothesline, Corbin fights back and McIntyre nails him with a spine buster for a near fall. McIntyre sets up for the Future Shock DDT and Corbin defends before landing a side slam for a near fall, McIntyre fights back again and Corbin goes to the middle rope. McIntyre catches a leaping Corbin and he lands a Future Shock DDT, McIntyre goes for the Claymore Kick and Corbin counters with a Deep Six for a near fall. McIntyre then hits Corbin with a Glasgow Kiss and Claymore Kick for a three count.

Winner: Drew McIntyre
