On August 4, 2023, WWE hosted a new episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. The show was headlined by Jey Uso Making an Appearance & LA Knight going one-on-one against Sheamus.

Elsewhere on the card, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair & WWE Women's Champion Asuka had a segment, and more was set for the Go-Home Show for SummerSlam 2023. Full Results & Highlights are listed below.

WWE SmackDown (8/4/2023).

  • LA Knight began the show with a promo, where promised that he would win the Slim Jim Battle Royal on SummerSlam.
  • LA Knight def. Sheamus (w/ Butch & Ridge Holland).
    • Santos Escobar, The Miz, Grayson Waller, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, "Michin" Mia Yim & AJ Styles watched the match from ringside. United States Champion Austin Theory hit a forearm on Escobar, causing a brawl to break at ringside. Miz taunted the crowd, but Sheamus pulled him to the apron by hitting him with the Beats of the Battering & The Brogue Kick. Knight saw the opening and hit the BFT on Sheamus for the win.
  • There was a vignette recapping the feud between Cody Rhodes & Brock Lesnar ahead of their grudge match on SummerSlam.
  • The OC (Luke Gallows & "The Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) (w/ "Michin" Mia Yim) vs. The Brawling Brutes (Butch & Ridge Holland) Ends in No Contest.
    • The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) attacked The OC & The Brawling Brutes from out of nowhere, sporting new suits. Dawkins & Ford hit a POUNCE/ German Suplex on Butch before heading to the ramp, where they met with Bobby Lashley.
  • There was a vignette of Charlotte Flair relaxing in a Yatch, where she called herself the past, present & future of WWE. Flair promised to win her 15th Women's Championship against Asuka & Bianca Belair on SummerSlam.
  • Paul Heyman came to the ring to specify the rules of Tribal Combat ahead of the match between Roman Reigns & Jey Uso for the Undisputed WWE Championship on SummerSlam with a promo & a video package. The video showed Afa, Sika & Rikishi were shown in the video before the video cut to Heyman, who state that Jey will never be Tribal Chief.
    Jey Uso interrupted Paul Heyman and stated that he put Reigns through a table before promising to bring the legacy of his ancestors, his passion, and his drive to become the new WWE Universal Champion. Solo Sikoa came to the ring to confront Jey, but Jey said that he would always forgive him. Jey told Sikoa that all he does is take orders, saying that Heyman is telling him the same stuff he used to tell Jey, which led to Sikoa staring daggers at Heyman. Uso hit a Thrust Kick on Sikoa before telling Hyeman to inform Reigns that he would see him tomorrow night & Sikoa later tonight.
  • Austin Theory was interviewed backstage by Kayla Braxton, where he said that he would "dedicate" his win next week against Santos Escobar to Rey Mysterio and promised to show Cameron Grimes the "experience" of Austin Theory Live.
  • Austin Theory def. Cameron Grimes.
    • After the match, Santos Escobar attacked Theory, hitting him with the Phantom Driver.
  • There was a video vignette Asuka training in a MMA Dojo. She stated that she was not ready and promised that she would beat Bianca Belair & Charlotte Flair because she had a plan and stated that "No One is Ready for Asuka".
  • Grayson Waller hosted a new episode of "The Grayson Waller Effect" with Damage CTRL (Bayley & Iyo Sky) being the guests. Bayley promised that Iyo Sky would become a champion, but a "Bayley" voiceover sounded around the arena. It was revealed to be a prank from Waller, which made Bayley rant on Waller.
    After that prank, Shotzi's TCB tank appeared on the ramp, but it ended up a trap. Shotzi appeared in the ring and confronted Bayley. Shotzi punched Bayley before trying to cut Bayley's hair with a razor, but Bayley responded by running out of the arena. Meanwhile on the ramp, Zelina Vega was revealed to be the driver of the TCB Tank, leading to her match against Iyo Sky after the commercial break.
  • Zelina Vega def. Iyo Sky.
    • Bayley & Shotzi brawled on the ramp, distracting Sky long enough to allow Vega to catch her with a Liger Bomb followed by a Code Red for the win.
  • There was a video vignette of Bianca Belair in the gym ahead of her match against Asuka & Charlotte Flair on SummerSlam. Belair promised that she would take back what was hers and regain the WWE Women's Championship.
  • Jey Uso def. Solo Sikoa (w/ Paul Heyman).
    • Solo SIkoa attacked Jey after the match, slamming Jey into the Ring post. Sikoa got a chair, but Jey caught him with a Superkick before unloading on SIkoa with the chair. Jey Uso stood tall over the broadcast table to end the show.
