Good evening Fight Fans and welcome to our coverage for tonight's edition of WWE Smackdown on FOX!
- We open the show with a graphic for the face to face between Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles as well as The Miz and John Morrison's warning for Braun Strowman as well as the Women's Tag Team Championship match in our main event before we throw backstage to Jeff Hardy talking to employees backstage and get a recap of the incident between Jeff and Elias where Elias was involved in a car accident with Jeff as the presumed perpetrator. We next go to the ring as Jeff comes out to the ring to address what happened as we get an update on a banged up Elias, Jeff thanking management and FOX for the time before saying that he was hit from behind and woke up covered in alcohol before he started questioning everything the last eight months during his recovery before saying that he knew that he didn't do it. Jeff talks about how the police told him that they saw someone with red hair fleeing the scene before Jeff says that he's not going to let Sheamus get away with it before Sheamus comes onto the stage. Sheamus says that Jeff blames everyone else for his problems and shucks his responsibilities before telling Jeff to be a man and admit to what he did before saying that he's a joke and saying that his wife and children at used to him slipping up. Jeff rushes Sheamus who drops him with a Brogue Kick before sending him into the panels along the ramp and into the barricade before we go backstage to Mandy Rose and Otis where Otis puts on Baron Corbin's crown and they leave before we go back to the announce table momentarily and immediately backstage where we see Corbin outraged backstage ahead of their match up next as we go to commercial.
Otis w/Mandy Rose vs Baron Corbin
Otis clotheslines Corbin over the top rope several times before Corbin sends him into the apron and the post and tosses him back into the ring before whipping him into the corner and hitting a spinebuster for two. Corbin applies a chin bar before Otis gets to his feet and punches his way out only to be hit with a forearm and punches in the midsection in the corner for two before Otis comes back with a back elbow and a fall away slam. Otis hits a running splash in the corner Corbin rolls out of the ring when Otis calls for the Caterpillar and Otis goes out after Corbin who hits him with a chair for the disqualification.
Winner: Otis defeats Baron Corbin via disqualification.
- After the match Otis comes back and hits Corbin with the Caterpillar before celebrating with Mandy before we get graphics for Daniel and AJ's face off the and the Women's Tag match between we go to The Miz and John Morrison in a surveillance van, waiting for Braun Strowman to show up before he drives up and gets out and goes into the arena as we go to commercial.
- We come back to Miz and Morrison watching a plank they played on Braun before Chad Gable is interviewed and interrupted by Mojo Rawley and attacked by Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura before we go back to the ring and Lacey Evans is attacked from behind by Sonya Deville ahead of their rematch from last week up next as we go to commercial.
Lacey Evans vs Sonya Deville
We come back from the break to the match already started and Sonya in control until Lacey comes back and drops Sonya before hitting a slingshot elbow drop for one before sending her face first into the top turnbuckle and choking her in the corner. Sonya whips Lacey into the corner and chokes her in the ropes before kicking her leg out and hitting a snap mare before standing on her hair and Lacey traps Sonya in the ropes before hitting her with knees and a roll up that sends Sonya right into the referee who calls for assistance as we go to commercial.
We come back to Sonya in control with a new referee in the match before Sonya grounds Lacey with a rear headlock and drags her out onto the edge of the apron before hitting a backbreaker to the floor. Sonya drives her foot into the neck of Lacey with her head against the edge of the stairs before tossing her back into the ring for two before Lacey comes back with a flying clothesline. Lacey drops Sonya with kicks before hitting a moonsault for a near fall and Sonya chokes Lacey in the ropes before snapping her neck in the ropes and hitting several running knees for a near fall. Sonya is then distracted by Mandy who shows up on the big screen and calls her a failure before Lacey turns her around and drops her with The Woman's Right for the pin and the win.
Winner: Lacey Evans defeats Sonya Deville via pinfall.
- We come back from the break to a vignette for Matt Riddle before we go to a backstage interview with Universal champion Braun Strowman ahead of his handicap title defense against The Miz and Morrison before he and the person interviewing him get hit with slime. We next go to a graphic for AJ and Daniel being grand marshals for a NASCAR event next week before they come out to the ring to face off ahead of facing off for the Intercontinental championship at Backlash! next weekend. Daniel reiterates that AJ is a coward, AJ saying that taking a by in the tournament was a smart move before Daniel says that he's going to be a fighting champion and AJ saying that Daniel wants a hand out and that he doesn't believe in hand outs before making reference to Daniel letting Drew Gulak being his coach. AJ then says that he's going to give Drew Gulak a match before Gulak comes out to the ring and accepts, immediately taking AJ down with a double leg before sending AJ out of the ring as we go to commercial.
AJ Styles vs Drew Gulak w/Daniel Bryan
AJ hits Drew with forearms and chops before dropping him with a back elbow and driving his shoulder into his midsection before Drew goes for a submission out of nowhere and AJ scrambles to the ropes for the break. Drew locks in a cross face before AJ gets to the corner and hits a snap mare into a kick to the spine and a backbreaker for two before dropping Drew with a lariat and locking in a rear chin lock. Drew comes back with right hands and beats AJ down in the corner before AJ whips him across the ring and misses a splash in the corner before Drew drops AJ several times and hits a running clothesline in the corner into a suplex. Drew then drives AJ into the mat for a near fall before AJ hits a reverse DDT and goes for the Styles Clash before Drew stacks him up and pins AJ out of nowhere for the win.
Winner: Drew Gulak defeats AJ Styles via pinfall.
- After the match we go to the parking lot where The Miz and Morrison vandalize Braun Strowman's car by destroying his windshield before leaving as we go to commercial.
New Day & Chad Gable vs The Artist Collective & Mojo Rawley
Chad and Cesaro start things off with Cesaro showing off his strength and lifting Chad with ease before Chad hits a dragon screw and gets the tag to E who gets hit with an uppercut. Mojo hits a running cross body for two and yells at Kofi on the apron before Shin comes in and gets put in a bear hug into an overhead belly to back suplex before tagging in Kofi and New Day and Chad team up on Shin for two. Kofi hits a tope to the outside and takes out Cesaro before Mojo runs over Kofi at ringside as we go to commercial.
We come back to Mojo in control of Kofi until Kofi gets the tag to Chad who hits a diving cross body and takes out Shin on the apron and suplexes Cesaro over his head and out of the ring. Chad hits a rolling kick into a running blockbuster before hitting a moonsault for two and locking in an ankle lock that Sin breaks up, Shin locking in a choke to E in the ropes before Kofi takes out Shin and Cesaro hits Chad with an uppercut before Mojo hits the Hyper Drive for a near fall. New Day then hit Mojo with their tag finisher while Chad keeps Shin and Cesaro from breaking up the pin for the win.
Winner: New Day and Chad Gable defeat Mojo Rawley and The Artist Collective via pinfall.
- After the match we go to the parking lot where Braun discovers his car and finds out that Miz and Morrison are in the white van before Braun lifts the van and tips it over onto it's side with Miz and Morrison inside before leaving as we go to commercial.
- We come back to this week's Progressive Match Flo between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan before we go to the ring for our main event.
WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Match
Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross (c) vs Bayley & Sasha Banks
Nikki is all over Bayley before she and Alexa chain together tags and offense until Bayley lifts Alexa up and drives her into the corner where Sasha comes in and stomps her down. Sasha chokes Alexa in the corner before Bayley chokes her in the ropes and Alexa rolls her up out of nowhere for a near fall and sends Bayley into the corner where Nikki hits a bulldog for two. Bayley rolls out of the ring before Nikki hits a wrecking ball dropkick and tags out Sasha on the apron before tossing her back into the ring and Sasha grabs her hair. Bayley then knocks Nikki off of the apron when she's trying to get back into the ring before Sasha hits a meteora off of the apron as we go to commercial.
We come back to Bayley and Sasha double teaming Nikki for two before Sasha hits a running meteora in the corner for two and locks in a rear headlock before Nikki gets to her feet and Sasha gets two off of a back slide. Sasha and Bayley isolate Nikki from Alexa for several minutes before Bayley misses a back elbow in the corner and Alexa comes in and drops Bayley and Sasha with right hands. Alexa dropkicks Bayley and climbs to the top before Sasha distracts her and Bayley catches her up top before hitting a superplex and Sasha hits a running knee for a near fall. Alexa hits a head scissors and a code red for a near fall while Nikki DDTs Bayley onto the floor and Nikki comes in and hits a diving cross body before Sasha locks in The Banks Statement not noticing that Bayley tagged herself in and Bayley goes for a submission before Nikki hits her with a neckbreaker. Sasha then drags Bayley to the corner and tags herself in before locking in The Banks Statement and Nikki and Sasha counter each other until Sasha wins with a crucifix for the pin and the win.
Winner: Sasha Banks and Bayley defeat Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross to become the new Women's Tag Team champions.
