WWE SmackDown Results For 4/22/2022: Lumberjack Match, Contract Signing, Riddle vs Jey Uso + More

- The show began with Pat McAfee and Michael Cole welcoming the audience to the broadcast airing live from Albany, New York.

- In the ring, Adam Pearce welcomed the audience before moderating the contract signing between SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair and the challenger for the championship, Ronda Rousey. Pearce forgot the contract backstage, which was brought to the ring by Drew Gulak, who was trying out to become Adam Pearce's intern. Gulak was going to present a PowerPoint presentation to break down the rules of an "I Quit" Match, but Flair told him to shut up. The crowd chanted "You tapped out" to Flair, who said that she was trying to fix her bra. Flair then broke down the rules of an "I Quit" Match, of which she said there was none. Flair said that it did not matter how she wins, because she will always win no matter what. Flair said that she will make Rousey say "I Quit" before signing the contract. Rousey and Flair started to discuss on whether Flair tapped out or if Flair fixed her clothing, but Rousey said that she will not be spared any humiliation when she makes Flair say "I Quit" before attempting to sign the contract, but Flair flipped the contract table on Rousey before getting a Kendo Stick to hit Rousey. Rousey got the Kendo Stick from Flair and hit her with the stick, but Gulak took the kendo stick from Rousey. Rousey hit Gulak with the Piper's Pit before locking in an arm-bar on Gulak, followed by Rousey signing the contract while on the arm-bar hold.

Xavier Woods (w/ Kofi Kingston) vs Butch (w/ Ridge Holland & Sheamus).

The match began with Woods getting a series of near falls on Butch before hitting Butch with a series of chops. Woods hit a knee followed by a clothesline on Butch for a near fall. Butch hit a forearm on Woods and hit a series of punches on Woods before hitting a double-knee drop on his arm of Woods. Butch hit a stomp on his arm of Woods. Butch slammed Woods on the middle turnbuckle. Woods lifted Butch out of the ring before hitting a middle rope dropkick on Woods. Sheamus and Holland blocked the road of Woods, which led to Butch jumping from the stairs and hitting a flying forearm on Woods before the commercial break.

Butch had Woods in a modified Lavelle Lock before transitioning into stomping Woods in the ribs. Butch continued to add pressure to the arm of Woods, but Woods hit Butch with a series of forearm strikes. Woods slid under Butch before hitting a Forearm, chop, and a senton on Butch. Butch slapped Woods, hit an inseguri, and hit a release suplex on Woods for a nearfall. Woods went from the middle rope and got Butch with the Backwoods Inside Cradle for the pinfall victory. After the match, Butch started to have a temper tantrum before attacking a security guard and storming out of the arena.

Winner: Xavier Woods (w/ Kofi Kingston).

- Backstage, Aliyah and Ricochet were seeing talking about the match Ricochet had against Jinder Mahal on the 4/15/2022 edition of SmackDown. After Ricochet stayed that he would face anyone in front of him, Shanky confronted Ricochet and asked him to face him. Ricochet accepted, before telling Shanky to be careful with what he wants.

Gunther (w/ Ludwig Kaiser) vs Teddy Goodz.

The match began with Gunther getting a wrist lock on Goodz. Gooz did a kick-up, but Gunther caught him with a big boot. Gunther hit an uppercut before placing Goodz in the top turnbuckle and hitting him with a chop. Gunther hit a suplex on Goodz before hitting another chop on Goodz. Gunther hit a third chop on Goodz, which was followed by a bodyslam on Goodz. Gunther hit a fourth chop on Goodz to the back. Gunther got a sleeper hold on Goodz before hitting a powerbomb for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Gunther (w/ Ludwig Kaiser).

- There was a video package showing the feud between RKBro and The Usos, which showed highlights from the match between Riddle vs Jimmy Uso. Drew McIntyre interacted with RKBro. While McIntyre and Orton had animosity, Riddle signed RKBro to be lumberjacks for the match between McIntyre and Zayn later in the night. Zayn was seen in the background, watching in glee that Orton and McIntyre had issues.

- Xia Li was backstage saying that she used to be the protector, but she was now going to protect herself because there was no one worth protecting.

Riddle (w/ Randy Orton) vs Jey Uso (w/ Jimmy Uso).

Prior to the match, Roman Reigns was watching the match from his locker room. The match began with Jey and Riddle locking up, before Riddle did a take down and locked Jey with a Sleeper hold before Jey got a rope break. Jey hit a shoulder block on Riddle, and Riddle got Jey with another sleeper hold. Jey Uso tossed Riddle and slapped Riddle. Riddle got a kick on Jey Uso before doing a gut-wrench Suplex on Jey Uso. Jey Uso hit a series of chops on Riddle. Riddle kicked Jey Uso's chest. Jey Uso rolled out of the ring and caught Riddle with a slap before slamming Riddle to the stairs. Jey Uso hit a back suplex on Riddle into the announcer's table before the commercial break.

Uso had Riddle in a side headlock before hitting an Inseguri Kick on Riddle. Jey Uso and Riddle exchanged forearm strikes and slaps before Riddle hit a big boot and a Pele kick on Jey. Riddle hit a series of forearms on Jey Uso, followed by a Saito Suplex. Riddle went for the Bro-ton, but missed the landing as Jey Uso evaded the move. Riddle hit the Floating Bro on Jey Uso for a near fall. Riddle hit the Elevated DDT on Jey Uso before preparing to hit the RKO. Jimmy Uso distracted Riddle, but Orton caught Jimmy with a back-suplex on the announcer's table. Jey Uso hit a pop-up neck breaker on Riddle for a near fall. Riddle hit a running knee on Riddle, but Jey hit a super kick on Riddle. Jey went for a Frog Splash, but Riddle put his knees up and did a roll-up on Jey Uso for the pinfall win.

Winner: Riddle (w/ Randy Orton).

- After the commercial break, Kayla Braxton interviewed WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Naomi. Naomi said that they were dominating the tag division and they are glowing while doing it. Banks said that they had no competition. Natalya and Shayna Baszler came down the ring, telling Banks that they did not lose the match on Wrestlemania. Natalya is a Three-Guisiness World Record holder, to which Naomi asked if it was for having a lot of cats. Baszler said that she and Natalya will tear every limb off Banks and Naomi to become new Women's Tag Team Champions before pushing Sasha Banks. Naomi told Baszler and Natalya to come and get them.

- Madcap Moss was training backstage before Happy Corbin interrupted him. Corbin offered Moss if he was interested in returning with Corbin. Moss said that there was bigger chance Corbin grew back his bald head, because that shipped sailed. Moss laughed off Corbin.

- There was a video package highlighting Raquel Rodriguez, showing footage from her work on NXT and NXT 2.0.

Madcap Moss vs Angel (w/ Humberto).

Prior to the match, Los Lotharios reached out to a fan on ringside for the kiss-cam. The match began with Angel and Moss locking up before Angel hit a forearm strike on Moss. Moss did a take-down on Angel hitting a running elbow strike on Moss. Moss tossed Angel onto Humberto. Angel hit a low drop-kick on Moss before hitting a chop on Moss. Moss hit a Fall-away slam on Angel before hitting a spear on Angel on the corner. Moss clothesline on Humberto before hitting a shoulder block on Angel. Moss hit the Punchline Neck-breaker on Angel for the pinfall win. After the match, Happy Corbin attacked Moss from behind before hitting the End of Days on Moss. Happy Corbin took Madcap's Andre The Giant Battle Royal Trophy to the ramp.

Winner: Madcap Moss

- Sami Zayn was seen standing out of the door of Roman Reigns. It was not specified as to why he was outside of the locker room, but he hesitated in knocking on the door of Reigns before the commercial break.

- Roman Reigns was seen backstage talking to Jey Uso, with Jey saying that what happened against Riddle will never happen again. Paul Heyman informed that Sami Zayn was there, where Zayn said that he acknowledges him. Zayn said that he was the locker room leader because he sees things, including seen RKBro confront Drew McIntyre. Zayn requested if Reigns could give him an assist for his Lumberjack Match due to disrespectful stuff said by RKBro. Zayn told Reigns that he would be an invaluable asset, telling Reigns that he acknowledges him. Reigns instructed The Usos to make sure people keep his name out of their mouths.

- Lacey Evans was backstage talking about her life story, saying that her father brought in a lot of drugs, saying that she did not have her mother with her support. Evans said that she believed at a young age that if she wanted something done right, she had to do it herself. She said it hurt her seen her father high with a cigarette in hand after every Amateur wrestling training. She said she is no better than the other WWE Superstars, but they sure were not better than her.

Lumberjack Match

Drew McIntyre vs Sami Zayn

Zayn started the match rolling out of the ring, but the Lumberjacks brought him back to the ring. The lumberjacks, Shinsuke Nakamura, New Day, and Mansoor carried Zayn back to the ring. McIntyre hit a series of chops on Zayn before Zayn lowered the rope to send Drew back in the ring. Sheamus attacked McIntyre before sending him back to the ring. The Lumberjacks faced off with each other before the commercial break.

After the commercial break, Zayn pushed McIntyre out of the ring before Sheamus attacked Drew again. Mcintyre hit a Glasgow's Kiss on Zayn. McIntyre hit two Overhead Suplexes, and kicked up to hit a Claymore on Zayn, but Zayn rolled out of the ring. RKBro tried to send Zayn back to the ring, but The Usos hit a superkick on Orton and attacked Riddle. The Lumberjacks attacked each other, which led to Mcintyre hitting an Over the Top Rope Senton on all the Lumberjacks. Zayn managed to run away from the ring, leading to the match ending in a no-contest. Pearce told Zyan he will have nowhere to run as he will face Mcintyre in a Steel Cage Match. Jinder Mahal and Shanky attacked McIntyre, but McIntyre attacked both of them. McIntyre hit the Claymore Kick on Mahal to end the show, telling Zayn his ass belongs to Drew McIntyre.

Match Result: No Contest.
