Rey Fenix has withdrawn from an upcoming independent wrestling date.
Over the course of the past month or so, much has been made about the contract status of Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. in AEW. With the Lucha Brothers' deals expiring in the coming months, the reported belief has been that the brothers are WWE bound. Now, Fenix has withdrawn from an upcoming independent wrestling date in the wake of these reports.
New Era Wrestling took to social media on Thursday night, announcing that Fenix had withdrawn from their September 2nd show in El Paso, Texas.
Fenix found success in three different divisions in AEW, holding the AEW Tag and Trios Championships as well as being a former International Champion.
Fenix last competed on AEW television on the August 20th edition of Collision, where he defeated Tony Nese in singles action.
Fightful Select will continue to have the latest details on The Lucha Brothers' contract status in the coming months.
