The Rock's Daughter Simone Talks Pressure To Live Up To The Family Name

Simone Johnson discusses her venture into wrestling.

Being the daughter of The Rock already comes with certain expectations. Entering the world of professional wrestling only heightens those expectations as many will compare Simone Johnson to her father. Simone has been training at the WWE Performance Center for just over a year now and has plans to pursue a career in wrestling.

"First time I came [to the Performance Center] was June 21st of 2018," Simon said on the Swerve City Podcast. "I knew that I always wanted to wrestle since I was 9 or 10. I didn't think I would be able to train until I was 18, but then I got the opportunity to train at the PC once a month when I was 16. The biggest concern with my parents was not destroying my body, bumping and all that. I don't know what changed their mind. I think they saw how passionate I was about the business and how much I loved it."

The Rock is not only one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time, but he has transcended pro wrestling, turning into one of the biggest box office draws in Hollywood. With Simone looking to make it in wrestling, she knows that, despite the pressure, she can't try to be her father.

"I [started feeling pressure] when I started wrestling and training. I still struggle with that pressure almost every day. I have to remind myself that, that pressure only exists when I start comparing myself to people, when I start comparing myself to my parents. This idea that I want to get into my head is that I'm not my parents. No one is their parents. Individuality is a gift. I have to keep reminding myself of that. I love my parents and am so proud of what they've done, but I am my own person. I have to remind myself of that."

Simone went on to say that her dad told her similar things, expressing that she is her own person.

Earlier this year, Triple H discussed Simone getting "the wrestling bug" while working at the PC. You can read his comments by clicking here.
