NJPW and CMLL continue to work together, and several top stars from NJPW will compete in Mexico at the FantasticaMania event on June 21. There, Rocky Romero will team up with Hiromu Takahashi to face Mascara Dorada & Templario. The card will also include Zack Sabre Jr., Hiromu Takahashi, and other stars.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of CMLL x NJPW FantasticaMania, Rocky Romero highlighted how he was a major part of the event happening in the first place. He noted that he was the Forbidden Door, as he let other wrestlers come into CMLL.
“The whole reason of FantasticaMania is because of me. Everybody should be thanking Rocky Romero. Taiji Ishimori should be thanking Rocky Romero. Hiromu Takahashi, Zack Sabre Jr., all the fans that are gonna be watching tonight in the arena should be thanking Rocky Romero because I am the Forbidden Door. Who opened this door and let all these wrestlers come through. Me. I haven’t been thanked once. Nobody called me and said, ‘Thank you.’ Mistico never called me or sent me a message to say thank you for tonight. Tonight’s another sell-out for one reason, and that’s Rocky Romero," Romero said.
Romero has often been credited as being a major factor in AEW and NJPW working together, dating back to the road to the first Forbidden Door event.
