The Rock and Roman Reigns were seemingly headed for a showdown based on how the February 2 episode of WWE SmackDown ended. At the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff, Reigns chose to face The Rock at WrestleMania 40, casting aside Cody Rhodes.
However, when Rhodes entered the picture and began speaking down about The Bloodline, Rock stood face-to-face with Cody. The confrontation ended with Rock slapping Rhodes.
After the Kickoff was over, Roman and Rock exited together, unpleased with how Rhodes and Seth Rollins spoke at the event.
Despite Roman picking to face The Rock, Triple H decided that Reigns will defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
