Over a year after her last MMA fight, and over two years since her last win, Rousey finally embraced the pro wrestling world.
Rousey had toyed with the idea of pro wrestling for years, appearing at WrestleMania 31 in an angle with The Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Now, as a full-time member of the WWE roster, Rousey explained her decision to move to WWE
"This has been a dream of mine since before I could talk and when I was trying to say 'Hulk Hogan.' This has been a dream of mine since I started MMA and I asked 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper if I could use his name. It's been a dream of mine since me and my girlfriends -- it's all we would do every night was sit around and watch wrestling. No matter how much I tried to do other things in my life, this kept following me around and it was time to take a hint from the universe and go for it," said Rousey.
Ahead of the 2018 Royal Rumble that saw her debut, she was also given a gift from the family of the late WWE Hall of Famer 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper.
"Roddy Piper's son Colton was nice enough to fly all the way from Vegas and bring me his jacket to wear tonight. Every time I'm out here I want people to remember him and what he accomplished. I wouldn't have been in the UFC if not for him, and what I use from what I've seen him do -- how to promote fights. I'm a better person because he lived," said Rousey.
Fightful.com broke the news last August that Rousey was training in pro wrestling.
