Sunday's New Japan G1 Special Night 2 saw the collapse of a staple in NJPW's junior heavyweight division.
Roppongi Vice announced their split after a championship match loss to IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks. After the loss, Rocky Romero stated that he and his partner Trent had a five-year plan that involved them winning the titles, which they did multiple times.
The team formed in early 2015 after Romero's former partner, Alex Koslov, abruptly retired. Together, the two won the 2016 Super Junior Tag Team Tournament, and became IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Champions four times.
Romero encouraged the former WWE Superstar Trent Beretta to try his luck in the NJPW heavyweight division. Romero's future is uncertain.
