At WWE NXT Heatwave, Lola Vice challenged Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Championship. Vice utilized her MMA background early and often by trapping Perez in submission holds and hitting her with stiff blows. She locked in a choke, and they spilled to the outside. Perez then ducked a strike, causing Vice's arm to hit the ring post. Perez then viciously targeted Vice's wounded arm.
Vice kept fighting, and she trapped Perez in another choke. She persevered and hit Perez with a back fist, which sent Perez crashing to the floor. Vice drilled Perez with more strikes, but the champion continued to target her arm. Perez sent Vice shoulder-post onto the ring post.

Perez then got a two-count with Pop Rox. The match went to the outside again, and Perez hit Pop Rox on the broadcast table. She got Vice back in the ring, but it wasn't enough to keep Vice down. Perez kept attacking Vice's injured arm, and she ultimately clinched the win by hitting Pop Rox three times.
