Sean Waltman Reflects On Teaming With Kane, 'To Me, It Was The Greatest Odd Couple Tag Team Ever'

Sean Waltman calls Kane his favorite tag team partner and reflects on their time together.

Sean Waltman, whether as X-Pac, Syxx, or the 1-2-3 Kid, had some great tag team partners. He was even fortunate enough to win WWE Tag Team Championship gold on a number of occasions. Still, despite his chemistry with Scott Hall or his first ever tag team victory with Marty Jannetty, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer calls Kane his favorite tag team partner.

In a new video on the WWE Vault YouTube channel, Waltman reflected on his time working with "The Big Red Machine."

"To this day, I'll tell you of all my partners, as far as tag team partners go, he's my favorite tag team partner. It was, to me, the best 'Odd Couple' tag team in wrestling ever," he said. "That was a really successful run for me, teaming with Kane. I just loved teaming with him."

Waltman also reflected on working with Ron Simmons and JBL, the men that he and Kane defeated to win the WWE Tag Team Championship on the August 9, 1999, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. The former WWE European Champion says he liked working with larger guys who would really bring it with their strikes in the ring because if he got hit harder, it was easier to get into the competitive style of the match.

"I loved working with them. They hit hard, and so did I," he said. "I really liked being in there with guys that brought it. As a small guy that, when I first started, people laughed at, I had something to prove. When you get hit hard like that, first of all, it gets me more into it. Then, you get the reactions, and I'm addicted to the reaction from the crowd."

That match would end with X-Pac pinning Ron Simmons to secure the victory for the team, and afterward, Kane would speak his first words in character without an assistive device. What were those words? Naturally, Kane had two words for the crowd, "Suck it!" Eeacting to the moment, X-Pac again reiterated that he felt he and Kane mastered the "Odd Couple" trope.

"The place popped! It's kind of mindless entertainment, I guess. But, it was classic," he said. "To me, the greatest 'Odd Couple' tag team ever."

The feeling is mutual on Kane's end. Fans can read his comments here.
