Seth Rollins talks about his beef with CM Punk.
Seth Rollins has made it clear that he has issues with CM Punk, especially since the latter returned to WWE at WWE Survivor Series 2023. Rollins has gotten mixed up in Punk's feud with Drew McIntyre, and he will be the special referee for their match at WWE SummerSlam.
On the Countdown to WWE SummerSlam, Seth Rollins was asked to comment on where his issues with Punk stemmed from.
“This was a guy I looked up to. I always thought that he had the best interests of the industry right here in his heart, I really did. Because that’s the image that he wants people to see, that’s what he wants people to believe about him. But it’s just not true. When push comes to shove, all he cares about is himself. That’s all he cares about. The rest is a facade. He’s a liar, he’s a crook, he’s a scam artist, and somehow, he’s made people believe that he’s this great messiah, when in fact he literally only cares about CM Punk and how to line his own pockets. It’s hard for me to even look him in the eye. I try to avoid him at all costs. Like I said, stay away from me, and here he is, in my space one more time," Rollins said.
Rollins was then asked about Drew McIntyre, given his own issues with Punk. He noted that he could understand where McIntyre was coming from, but Drew was effectively feeding the beast by giving Punk so much attention.
"I understand why Drew doesn’t like him, I get it, but the more attention you give to this guy, that’s what he wants. Thats what he wants. You’re feeding the beast. You have to ignore people like this so they just go away. But he doesn’t. He continues to feed the beast, and now he’s in a position where [laughs] you didn’t want him to be here, and now you’ve propped him up. SummerSlam, one of the biggest events on our calendar. You’ve propped him up and put him in this position. That’s on you. So I don’t like Drew, I don’t agree with his approach to a lot of things. But at least I can sort of understand it. I can put myself in those shoes. I’ve been in where Drew’s been mentally, I understand what it’s like to feel slighted and to feel like you need to grind and sometimes do some things you don’t want to do to get where you need to be. I understand that, so I can sort of put myself in Drew’s shoes. Punk, I can’t get any of what he’s doing. So Drew has put himself in a tough spot," Rollins said.
