Swerve talks about forming a bond with Edge during his brief time in WWE.
One thing being employed by WWE will allow a wrestler, no matter how long they are with the company, is access at any given time to a wealth of knowledge and experience from all areas of the industry.
Sw3rve The Realest (Isaiah Scott) is now opening up to Muscle Man Malcolm about forming a bond with WWE Hall of Famer, Edge, the former NXT North American champion says it all began when Beth Phoenix, Edge’s wife, suggested that he check out one of Swerve’s 205 Live matches.
“Edge is one of my good friends now. I grew up watching him,” Swerve began. “He watched me and Drew Gulak from 205 Live because Beth was commentating, she told him like, ‘Hey, watch this match. You need to watch this match.’ He like, just absorbed it. He's like, ‘Oh my god, this is what I love.’ It was everything that he loved about wrestling. So he just attached to me and we've been talking on the phone for like, 30 minutes.”
He continued, “It's not one thing I learned from him, it’s so many things. Watching our matches, him versus Seth Rollins in Hell in a Cell, put that match next to me and Leon Ruff, we do a lot of very similar like similar movements. There's a lot of similar pacing, a lot of similar shots that are done on camera. We kind of mirror each other in a lot of ways, the taller, lankier guys. So we move a different way. That is one of my idols. One of my great friends. I'll randomly text him, he’ll randomly text me and see how I'm doing, it was never wasted time there. People are like, ‘Oh my god, they wasted your time in WWE.’ No, that's what I needed. I came out better than when I went in.”
