The Rock returned to WWE on the January 1 episode of WWE Raw, confronting Jinder Mahal, laying him out with a People's Elbow, and then teasing a showdown with Roman Reigns by asking if he should sit at the Head of the Table.
On Nightcap with Shannon Sharpe & Gilbert Arenas, Shannon and Arenas were asked about The Rock's return, leading to Sharpe explaining the territory system to Arenas.
"I grew up with Georgia Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie. We had Dusty Rhodes, Andre The Giant, Bobo Brazil, Ox Baker. Mr. Wrestling 1 and 2, Pak Song, Abdullah The Butcher. My grandpa used to haul us around, we'd go to Savannah, we'd go to Vidalia, Baxley. They would come to small towns and wrestle back then. It's not WWE. It's not what it is because everyone has their own. Georgia Champion, Florida Championship, Mid-Atlantic Championship. Regionals had wrestling. It's not under one roof like it was. Harley Race. Nick Bockwinkel. Me and my cousin packed up that car many times and hauled tail to Savannah. Ric Flair. Arn Anderson. I love (wrestling)," he said.
Arenas named Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Hulk Hogan, and Ultimate Warrior as some of his favorites, but admitted he had never been to a wrestling event.
Ric Flair has appeared on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay series in the past. He did not do Katt Williams numbers.
