Shingo Takagi won the NEVER Openweight Championship at NJPW Sakura Genesis, defeating EVIL.
The match saw interference from Los Ingobernables de Japon members Hiromu Takahashi, dressed as a referee, and BUSHI to fend off HOUSE OF TORTURE members Dick Togo, Yujiro Takahashi, and Yoshinobu Kanemaru, who was also dressed as a referee.
The finish saw Shingo hit a pumping bomber followed by last of the dragon. An actual official, Red Shoes, counted the pinfall.

After the bout, Gabe Kidd attacked and said he was going to take everything, dropping multiple F bombs. Kidd closed by saying he hates NJPW and then spit on the mat.
This marks the fourth reign as NEVER Openweight Champion for Shingo. EVIL held the title for 77 days after winning it from Tama Tonga at NJPW The New Beginning In Nagoya. He made one successful title defense.
