Tonight on SmackDown, Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura revealed a new design for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Sami Zayn presented the belt to Nakamura as a gift for being so "studly" and proceeded to take the old championship away from him. The now-former design was a re-hash of the 1980's design. It was brought back by Cody Rhodes in 2011.
The design of the new championship belt is on a black strap with the words Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion on the front, two globe designs on the sides of the front plate and custom side plates for Nakamura.

With this Intercontinental Championship redesign, the only Championship to still have its old design is the United States Championship, which outside of a logo change that occurred WWE changed its logo officially in 2014, has stayed relatively the same since it’s debut in 2003.
Shinsuke Nakamura was very honored to be the first WWE Superstar to hold the newly designed championship.
