Shinsuke Nakamura came to WWE to wrestle Daniel Bryan.
When Shinsuke Nakamura joined WWE, he first went through NXT, won the NXT Championship, and then joined the main roster. Before any of that, Daniel Bryan was forced to step away from wrestling in WWE because of his injuries. Earlier this year, Bryan returned to WWE after finally being cleared by the WWE medical staff. In an interview with Asbury Park Press, Nakamura said he's excited for the possibility of wrestling Bryan.
"One of the purposes of coming to WWE was to wrestle with Daniel Bryan," said Nakamura. "But now, I've got like a high possibility to wrestle with Daniel at like the biggest stage in wrestling history. So I’m so excited," he added.
In 2004, Nakamura and Bryan were in tag team matches against each other in New Japan Pro Wrestling. During that time, Bryan and Nakamura were roommates with former UFC Champion Lyoto Machida.
Bryan and Nakamura also had a dark match after a recent taping of Smackdown.
