Swerve Strickland comments on the first Dynamite after winning AEW World Title.
Swerve Strickland won the AEW World Title at AEW Dynasty, defeating Samoa Joe in the main event. The first time fans saw Swerve after winning the title was in an early segment on the following episode of AEW Dynamite when he defeated Kyle Fletcher in a back-and-forth affair.
Swerve's presentation after winning the title was questioned by many fans and peers.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Swerve was asked if he would have preferred to do something different after winning the title.
"Of course, I would have preferred to do something different. That's the element of being now and getting back the next show and the following week. You have to constantly grow. We grow and get other opportunities. For me, this championship reign is always going to keep ascending and going up. Next week is always going to be better than before and the next week will be better than the week before. It's going to keep going up. I'd rather keep going up than going down," said Swerve.
Swerve did open the following episode of AEW Collision, which had a lead in from the NBA Playoffs.
Swerve will defend the AEW World Title against Will Ospreay at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
