Tama Tonga Compares Bullet Club To 1972 New York Yankees

Tama Tonga has an interesting analogy when talking about Bullet Club and baseball.

The current version of Bullet Club features a number of former champions from Jay White to EVIL to Tonga and more. Tonga and Tanga Loa are back in the World Tag League looking to earn a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team titles, but Bullet Club has two more teams in the tournament (EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens & Bad Luck Fale).

There had been a lot of tension in Bullet Club in recent months with the addition of EVIL. Even so, the tournament and tension has not deterred the group from its goals. Speaking with NJPW, Tonga compared Bullet Club to the 1972 New York Yankees, a team that included several notable names such as Thurman Munson, Sparky Lyle and Bobby Murcer.

"Well we’re like the 1972 New York Yankees. A dream team. All the best players in one place. Yeah there are egos. Egos all over the place, but we’ll pull it together and we’ll be the best there is," Tonga said.

In the past, Tonga had spoken about a singular, united Bullet Club. Those days are gone, according to Tonga.

"That era is gone. We aren’t brothers anymore. None of this 'Good Brother' stuff. That’s done. We’re not trying to be friends, we’re trying to be a team. The best team," Tonga said.

The World Tag League is going on right now and you can check out the updated standings at this link.
