HOOK and Taz discuss AEW Rampage: Grand Slam, where "The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil" will team up with Action Bronson to face Angelo Parker and Matt Menard.
The FW Champion uses Bronson's "The Chairman's Intent" as his theme song, and the duo formed an official alliance at AEW All Out, where Bronson saved HOOK from a beatdown at the hands of Parker and Menard.
Speaking with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post, HOOK discussed the match and made it clear that he views it as an "incredible" opportunity. He also opened up about his connection with Bronson and noted that he looks up to the rapper.
“I always looked up to him. The way he constructs his career, I admire [him], and he inspires me in a lot of different ways. I’ve always been a massive fan of his. Now, having this relationship and this friendship with him, it’s really wild," HOOK said.
Taz, HOOK's father and AEW broadcaster, also shared his thoughts on the bout and noted that their family is very close with Bronson.
“To me, Bronson’s like family. We’re all that close," Taz said.
The former ECW star then previewed the way HOOK and Bronson work together, as he compared them to a Porsche and a tank.
“That’s always stuck in my head. Imagine getting two guys that have that kind of vibe, and that’s what I think when you see Hook and Action Bronson compete. You’re gonna see the Porsche and the tank. I promise you," Taz said.
HOOK also emphasized that Bronson's in-ring debut isn't "just some celebrity spot." Instead, he's taking it seriously, and the FTW Champion stated that his partner can "go."
“Dude’s a beast. He can go — straight up," HOOK said.
Ahead of the show on Friday, Taz offered some perspective on the pairing of HOOK and Bronson, noting that it started when he and his son both liked the rapper's music years ago.
“It’s not weird, but it is weird because, back in the day when my son was a little kid, he was listening to this guy’s music, and I said, ‘This guy is great.’ And that’s how it happened," Taz said.
In the same interview, Taz commented on HOOK's run in AEW up to this point. You can check out his comments here.
