Teddy Long explains how Vince McMahon inspired one of his famous lines.
During his run as a General Manager in WWE, Teddy Long was known for several lines. Among others, he memorably said, "Holla holla." Long was also known for booking WWE stars to go "one on one with The Undertaker".
Speaking on Six Feet Under with Mark Calaway, The Undertaker recalled a time when he got chewed out by Vince McMahon. Teddy Long noted that he learned from McMahon and tried to avoid upsetting him. He then recalled how he came up with the "One on one with The Undertaker" line he often said.
“I learned from [Vince McMahon]. I watched him, and I made sure I didn’t do none of that shit [laughs]. You know how I came up with ‘One on one with The Undertaker’? We was in Madison Square Garden, and Stephanie [McMahon] went out and introduced somebody. When she comes back, Vince was waiting on her, and I was standing there, and he stopped her. He wasn’t cussing her or nothing, but he was telling her, ‘When you introduce people, I want you to put some emphasis on it. Make it mean something.’ He kept doing this [waves his hands]. He kept doing this, so I got it, so I went out that night, and I made that first introduction, ‘One on one with The Undertaker.’ I come back, and he did [a thumbs up] to me, and I just kept right on waking. I saw him getting on Stephanie about it, he didn’t even know I was standing there, but I kept remembering that. I said, okay, I got it. I see what he wants," Teddy Long said.
Long previously recalled how The Undertaker improvised his "Buckle up, Teddy" line. Check out his comments here.
