Thunder Rosa Provides An Update On Her Recovery With Therapy Session Vlog

On August 24, AEW Women's Champion Thunder Rosa announced during AEW Dynamite that she would be out of action with an injury. She later clarified that she was dealing with a back injury.

In her latest vlog, Rosa provided an update on her recovery as she's seen undergoing various treatments and therapies throughout the episode.

Rosa goes to the South Texas Spine & Joint Institute at the beginning of the vlog for her first session and meets with Dr. David Kaiser, who she's been working with for about three years.

Rosa states she is getting a spinal decompression and Dr. Kaiser says the treatment is beneficial for those dealing with herniated discs, torn discs, and leg pain.

“[Four times a week] for the first two weeks,” Dr. Kaiser says when Rosa asked how frequently she would need to see him. “Then, we'll see how you're sitting but you'll probably be here for at least six weeks minimum.”

It is unclear when the initial visit to Dr. Kaiser was filmed. It should be noted that on September 1, Rosa did an interview with SoundSphere/Gimme A Hull Yeah, where she said she had just finished her second day of therapy.

Later in the vlog, Rosa says she's going to her "first physical therapy session after six weeks of being injured." She said not traveling has made a huge difference, but things are going to start picking up.

Near the end, Rosa returns to the South Texas Spine & Joint Institute for shockwave therapy. When checking in for the session, it's said Rosa has had "20 treatments." When asked how long she's been getting treated, Dr. Kaiser replied, "two weeks."

Dr. Kaiser notes that the overall goal of the shockwave therapy treatment is to improve cellular tissue regeneration and vascular regeneration, as opposed to directly combating pain.

“These are acoustic waves that travel below the skin, translate it into mechanical energy that mechanical energy disrupts the tissue and when it dysregulates the tissue, it stimulates the body's natural ability to start healing. So it improves cellular tissue regeneration, vascular regeneration, this is not for pain, though,” said Dr. Kaiser.

As of now, it is unknown how much longer Rosa will be sidelined.

While Rosa has been out of action, Toni Storm won the Interim AEW Women's Championship at AEW All Out in a four-way bout against Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, and Jamie Hayter. Storm was originally scheduled to face Rosa at the event.

Storm will defend the Interim AEW Women's Title against Baker, Athena, and Serena Deeb at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on September 21.

Fightful will provide fans with updates on Rosa's injury as more is known.
