WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana doesn't believe that Vince McMahon is no longer involved with WWE following his retirement.
McMahon retired on July 22, and Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan were subsequently named the co-CEOs of the company. He had already stepped back from his duties as WWE Chairman and CEO for the duration of an investigation by the WWE Board of Directors into allegations that he paid hush money to former WWE employees to cover up sexual misconduct.
In an interview with PWMania, when asked about McMahon's retirement, Santana simply stated that he doesn't think McMahon will cease his involvement with the company.
"I just do not believe that he is not involved somehow," said Santana.
Though he enjoyed plenty of success in his career, like winning the Intercontinental Championship and the King of the Ring tournament, Santana never got to win a world title. In hindsight, he noted that he wishes he could have reached that level, as he said, “I wish I had gotten a chance to be the World Champion."
Like Santana, Kurt Angle had a remarkably successful WWE career. The WWE Hall of Famer shared a similar perspective on McMahon's retirement when he previously commented on the situation. Speaking with Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report, he stated that he thinks McMahon will remain behind the scenes despite his retirement.
"It is sad to see Vince gone. He's what made the WWE tick. He always was the guy, he will continue to be the guy, regardless of whether he's there or not. I'm not worried about the company, I am a little bit concerned that Vince isn't going to be there. I have all the faith in the world that Stephanie and Triple H are going to be able to carry that company. I honestly believe, I don't know if I should say this or not, but I think Vince is going to be behind the scenes. I don't think he's ever going to let go of the product. He will send messages to Triple H and Stephanie and make sure that he's involved. No doubt about it. I believe that in my mind," he said.
Chris Jericho recently called McMahon a "once in a generation genius", and you can check out his comments by clicking here. Meanwhile, the WWE Board Investigation revealed that McMahon previously made payments to the Donald J. Trump Foundation. More information is available here.
