Tom Pestock: Baron Corbin Is Dead. Bishop Dyer Is The Guy

Tom Pestock (Baron Corbin in WWE) parted ways with WWE at the end of 2024 when WWE decided to not renew his contract.

Pestock filed a trademark on "Bishop Dyer," and has confirmed that will be his wrestling name moving forward.

Kurt Angle Issues Further Comment On 'Perc Angle' Nickname

"I'm going to 'The Nomad' Bishop Dyer. I'm going to be The Nomad. I'm going to roam. It pays tribute to the Lone Wolf, Dire Wolf, and a Biship is higher than a Baron. We're going up. The rankings are going up. It's a powerful name. It's a cool name. I want to be The Nomad. I'm gonna float and see where the wrestling world takes me," Pestock told Chris Van Vliet on Insight.

He continued, "I spoke at length about this with Sam Roberts and my wife. They were like, 'If you want to create something new, be something new.' Even my guy doing the trademark, he was like, 'What about Bishop Corbin?' It's still WWE. I want to shed that. I want to take Bishop Dyer to a level....Cody is a great example. He left and created an entire thing that has made him who he is today. Granted, his first show he's smashing Hunter's chair, but he let go of that and just did him, and he brought it back and is completely different. Nobody on the independent world or AEW was saying, 'That's just Cody from WWE.' I want to shed it all and see what I can create. When I come back, maybe a year from now in 2026 they go, 'We want you in the Rumble as Baron Corbin.' 'He's dead. Bishop Dyer is the guy.' I think [Baron Corbin] is dead. There is no looking back."

Elsewhere during the interview, Pestock commented on his future in wrestling. You can find his full comments by clicking here.

Pestock competed in his first post-WWE match at The People vs. GCW, facing Josh Barnett in a Bloodsport bout.
