Toni Storm is ready to become the official AEW Women's World Champion.
At AEW All Out earlier this year, Toni Storm became the interim AEW Women's World Champion after defeating Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, and Jamie Hayter in a four way match. The need to crown an interim champion came after Thunder Rosa, who is still the official AEW Women's World Champion, revealed that she needed to take time off due to injury.
Since winning the belt, Storm has been a consistent presence on AEW programming, as she has defended the title on numerous occasions. In a new interview with Bleacher Report, Storm revealed that she is ready to defeat Rosa and remove the interim title from her championship reign.
"I guess my first thing would be to beat Thunder Rosa and stop this interim nonsense. That's kind of what's been bothering me. I think that's been bothering a lot of people because she's still calling herself the AEW women's world champion and I'm the one here every week doing the work."
Storm went on to say that despite the current situation she finds herself in, she is just focused on being a good champion for the company.
"Right now. I guess it's about being a good champion, being a strong champion. That's what I'm up against every day. I'm working harder than I ever had in my entire career. The time is now. I look at every week as just an opportunity to prove myself. I love giving it my all and who knows where we go from here? But all I know is I'm gonna continue to work hard."
Storm is set to defend her title against Hikaru Shida on the October 18 edition of AEW Dynamite. To see the show's full lineup, click here.
