Tony Schiavone explains his absence.
Many fans were curious about the absence of Tony Schiavone, as the popular commentator missed the January 8 edition of AEW Dynamite. Some fans speculated that Schiavone was suspended from the company after his tweet about NJPW commentator Chris Charlton.
On the latest edition of What Happened When, Schiavone cleared up the speculation, as Conrad Thompson revealed that his wife was getting hip replacement surgery on Wednesday. Schiavone responded in a sarcastic tone, joking that he went to TV and got suspended instead of picking up his wife from the hospital.
“Couldn’t have been it, no. No, as a matter of fact, she got out of the hospital on Wednesday, and so I just let her walk home from the hospital instead of picking her up, and I went to TV and got suspended. But she made it home about six hours later."
Conrad Thompson went on and joked about the speculation about Schiavone getting suspended and highlighted how ridiculous it was. Schiavone then said that his wife, Lois, was recovering well.
Tony Schiavone returned to the company on January 11, as he was on the call for AEW Collision.
